Ds has been excluded from school, really upset, as he had been doing really well. He goes on back Monday.
He upset the head teacher and was very rude to her. He had a complete melt down in front of the whole class, which is the main thing I didn't want to happen. This is when I ask myself should he be in a special school, are the special schools more accepting than mainstream school?
This is just a nightmare for me. The head is very annoyed with him. I know feel she might resent him. This just my worse mightmare is it all starting again. Larsxx Sad

We also have found in our special school that the more able childrenbecome more independant as the curriculum /building is designed around their needs.
In this case if he/staffrecognised there was potential for a melt down he could have time out in a quiet room/change of activity etc.

If you can visit special schools and speak to staff informally you may be able to find a way share m/s and s/s or s/s for now then reintergrate. You also need to look long tern as many children transfer at 11/13/16 which aremore difficult times to accept changes.

I feel very unsettled to say the least, Ds goes back Monday but how long until the next meltdown.

I think a special school might be better, but really feel that it has to be the right kind of school.DS is not bad enough I've been told to go to MLD, but surely this depends on the school's pupils.
I did visit an EBD school but it was residential, I was appalled that the school was residential and nothing else. I did not want my child staying away from home and it wasn't a choice for me. This was not a boarding school, but like a 'no choice' for parents school or where the parents had just given up all hope.

Let's face it I just can't win when he is excluded, but i have told the LEA if this doesn't work then I will not consider any other mainstream school again. I'm not saying they haven't been good at his new school, but I just cannot say to the Head, ds will not ever do the same again and that's how it is. larsxx
