Back to school tomorrow

Is anyone else dreading back to school? I am desperate for a bit of time to myself but so worried about my little one going back and all the ongoing crap. I feel not entirely positive about the school at the moment, although my older child is there too with no problems. So just how to keep my feelings under wraps really. We are in process of getting statement and diagnosis so v much in limbo, but in the meantime life does have to go on. Just feel better for saying it really.

One more day here, due to a training day :-(

Handywoman · 06/01/2013 19:51

One more day here, too, but yes, definitely dreading....

Hoping to commence my escape from limbo with Paed appt in Feb (probably over optimistic) and dd2 starts working with SENCO on reading comprehension so it's not all bad. Back to the grind supporting dyslexic dd1 with utterly crap class teacher plus private tuition, gazillions of extra curricular activities and full time job.

Just remember it's two relatively short half terms this term.

Good luck everyone xxxx

As much as I'm looking forward to trying to get both DC back into a routine of sorts, I'm sooo not looking forward to the upheaval a new term always means.

Ineedmorepatience · 06/01/2013 20:43

Well Dd3 is in bed, not asleep yet but in bed.

We didnt have a great time last term, lots of stress and a horrible uti to deal with.

Some extra support put in place during the last 2 weeks of term but that was mayhem anyway.

Fingers crossed for the morning.

Good luck to everyone who is going back tomorrowSmile

Tomorrow is back to school for us. DS2 is going into a new classroom with new teacher and class TA (at his SS), so I'm expecting things to be a bit chaotic for the next couple weeks.

BeeMom · 07/01/2013 02:49

I am of two minds... Bee goes to an exceptional SS with very small classes (if everyone is there, there will be 6 children - however, there is a horrible flu going around and it is taking its toll on everyone) and she is looking forward to going back... BUT i am concerned about 2 things. The first - the return to her routine will be good, but any change throws her... and it'll be tough on everyone for the first few days. My second concern is her health - illness spikes seem to happen around the return from hols, and Bee's immune system is shaky at the best of times. Here's hoping she doesn't get sick.

DS is looking forward to seeing his friends again, but I can see he is anxious about going back. He is excited to get back to some of his classes, but his first of the day is also the one he is struggling the most in - tough way to come back.

Me... I am honestly looking forward to cleaning my house and keeping it clean for more than 30 minutes.

I am massively relieved they are back at school. They're getting on each others nerves, DS2 is missing his friends, DS1 needs routine back (although thank the lord he seems to have got over his month long spell of not being able to get to sleep) and I am very pregnant and need to lie on the sofa in peace.
Having said that DS1 has a new class teacher and is very anxious about it, but we are generally quite lucky with school and I know the class TA will be looking out for him. Am fully expecting a strop when he gets home though.

I'm absolutely glad that DD1 is back at school; she's done the best ever this year, but during the last week she has gone well beyond her coping limit.

DD2 has had a lovely break from school. Her tummy pains had eased to almost nothing, she was relaxed. 8.15 this morning 'please don't send me to school, Mummy. My tummy hurts.'

DD3 has been asking to go back to montessori forever.

LOL BeeMom - I too would like a tidy house for 30 minutes Grin
Tuesday return here too.
Not looking forward to the battles for all 3 tbh
DS1 tests over christmas evidence dyslexia - which I had already discussed with school. His IEP is defunct all bar 1 item as OT and physio have stopped, so will be 'suggesting' new targets based on dyslexia
DS2 - had long discussions over the hols - as per each holiday - as to having no friends and school persistently doing sweet FA about it. Seems he too (like DS1) has low level bullying, where people are told not to play with him. He plays with DS1 and a couple of others. Makes me weepy just thinking about it. School admit friendship problem, just don't know what to do.
DS3 - OT assessment soon for dyspraxia, still getting into trouble for not following instructions. I have to go in and 'remind' each teacher that gives sanctions that this could be a symptom of what he is being assessed for.
New Year - same problems

Back to school today, hasnt been able to sleep for two nights, tummy pains r back. Was dragged into car and pushed into school. I hate it I wish she didnt have to go. School dont seem to get it. I dont know how to get her there without a battle and then I feel so horrible all day for sending her.
