We have just received the paediatrian's report from DS's initial assessment into possible autism. On the basis of this appointment, he has been referred for full autism assessment.
The report was fine, on the whole, but there were a couple of points that are quite incorrect and I don't know if I should be asking for them to be amended in his notes, or if am I just splitting hairs.
The first was where she said that even though he points with his index finger now, he used to point with a grasping hand. Yes, he might have pointed late but he's always pointed with his index finger.
The second was where she has written that he used to line things up but doesn't now. He has never ever lined things up.
I think what has happened is that she wrote up the report a while after the appointment and has mis-remembered. The appointment was mid-Nov and we received the report Xmas eve! At one point during the appointment, DS pointed (with pointy finger) to a toy on top of a cupboard and when I said he couldn't have it, he made a grasping gesture towards it out of frustration. It was like he was trying to reach it. This was what the paed saw. Then a bit later, he was playing with some little toy animals and bringing them to DH, one by one. DH lined them along the desk and the paed said, look DS lined them up! I was about to say he's never lined anything up before when DH owned up that it was him that had done it!
So should we be asking for amendments? We are in Scotland, in case this makes a difference.
