Am a regular name-changer and have probably 'chatted' to most of you at some time or other.
Ds's school repeatedly failed to meet his needs and have now permanently excluded him. The statement was being amended in any case as we had to name a high school for next year and we were sure that there was nothing locally to meet his needs. At the AR meeting I said that I was happy to go to tribunal to get the right school and they said that they wanted to avoid that Confused. The proposed sm appeared to hint at a unit so I requested a lot of amendments.
Anyway, we then said that we were having trouble finding any school that would suit and they suggested 4 independent schools that they would consider as they sent children there already Shock. Unfortunately these were all unsuitable for various reasons (a couple were EBD Hmm) so after hearing this they have now agreed to name our choice - a specialist independent residentialShock.

I now realise that I have spent months preparing for a tribunal for nothing Sad Xmas Grin
Wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the great advice - couldn't have done it without you. Knowledge is strength as they say.

Preparing for the tribunal wasn't for nothing... being so well prepared was exactly why the LEA didn't just go ahead at tribunal on the off-chance of winning were able to understand ds's needs so clearly and make the right choice

Oh that's fantastic new nomorefighting. Xmas Grin

I may well be coming to you for some advice in the very near future, as we are going through something fairly similar with regards to secondary placement at the moment and realistically there's no way it's going to get resolved without a tribunal.

Great news but you must stay Nomore there are loads of us on here who need the advice from people who have been there and don it.

I am pretty sure I will be applying for a statement for Dd3 in January so that we are ready for secondary but something tells me it is not going to be an easy ride.

Thanks.

I'm a bit 'bunny in the headlights' about it all at the moment, but gradually building a plan that we hope will give him the best shot.

Feels a bit like I've already screwed up big time and now have to try and find a way to dig us out of the hole we're in.

I add my yoohoo.

Shellywelly1973 · 20/12/2012 23:33

Well done!!

The preparation wasn't for nothing...

My ds attends an Independent AS school funded by LEA-no tribunal was needed in the end so i know how you feel!!
