Christmas holidays looming - any experience of having a 'home' timetable?

Does anyone have any experience of having used a timetable for their dc who likes to live with structure. For the first time this year I realised that some of my challenges with ds3 during October half term were probably due to not having a formal routine in place. He became very 'tigger-ish' in behaviour. He has a tentative dx from CAMHS of 'a-typical autism' but they are now wanting us to see the community paediatrician. Just wondered if anyone else has to put a kind of timetable together in order to keep their dc grounded.

How about a sort of advent calendar type thing...a big square for each day of the hols and what will/should happen.
Big square for 25th and pic of Santa and presents? (If he still believes that is)
He could even help you make it//decorate it if he enjoys that?

Dd has ADHD and we are trialling this a bit with her this holiday as she simply can't cope with "we'll go to the park and swimming this week". She seems to be doing a bit better so far. We are only scheduling major things though. So today, swimming at 1230, so leave house 11.30, 11am, make packed lunch, 9am, I can play at home.
