Fidget toys that can fit in pocket? Any suggestions?

DS2 is 6yo and has recently been putting all sorts of items in his pockets and playing with them. We've discussed it with his teacher and are looking at trying a fidget toy in his pocket - hopefully it will distract him as well as keep him from filling his pockets with things.

We're looking at this...

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought 'tangles' for my son on recommendation from a mumsnetter. I think you can get them from sensorytoywarehouse - if not amazon stocks them. They are pocket size and seem to help him.

how about these as they are on keyrings so could be hooded to a trouser belt loop

DS has this on his pencil case.

We have also had this but they do tend to have the middle come out if you pull the hair too hard.

also how about this centipede or one of the other squshy toys on that website

been looking for a pocket fidget toy for ds too, hes tried chewlery necklaces but didnt like the feel against his neck. I bought him a 'hairy horris' which is basically one of those centipede things above and he managed to break it within 30 mins by squeezing it too hard Hmm i like the look of the keyring but not sure school with allow it.

Ilisten2theradio · 13/12/2012 13:20

The keyring was so that it would not look "obvious" as DS is 12 and in MS school.
At primary they were happy with whatever we provided. He liked the koosh balls, and we had one that was doughnut shaped, a bit like the centipede type thing but as a ring. We have had lots of variations on that theme as they sell them in all the pound shops and places like Tesco too amongst the toys

Thanks for the info - I will look through all the recommendations. Thanks to a lovely MN'er we received a generous gift voucher for a sensory toy place that will really be helpful! I'm looking forward to browsing all their sensory/fidget toys and seeing what there is.

Ds uses blutac as a finger fidget

ChristmasTreegles · 13/12/2012 21:06

Yes, DS2 LIKES to use blutac - but last time he had it, he put a piece in his ear, which required a trip to the A&E to have it removed as it had been pushed in so far!! Hmm So I think blutac will unfortunately not be on our list. Grin But yes, he did enjoy playing with it. lol
