Why does this happen EVERY term?

Bloody LEA have cocked up ds1's individual support at nursery. They do this EVERY term. Been on the ohone to them and they are saying it'll take a month to sort out, but they can backpay, but they can't guarantee that they will backpay (so I pointed out that effectively they can't then as there's no way a small business is going to pay for staff when it can't guarantee it'll get the money back). This means he will be without one to one for a month.

On his statement it gives him full time one to one. His school is the named provider- but it mentions his transition between school and nursery. Do they have to meet his statement at nursery as well? I'm guessing not (grr sahould have got the nursery named as well that was stupid of me).

Have spoken to one person in the LEA but she passed it onto someone else. Think I will ring next week if nothing is sorted out today.

Every bloody term for the last four terms we have had this.

Sorry jimjams it must be really really frustrating for youSad I cant beleive it keeps happening all the time. It makes you want to scream. Many sympathies from me

How infuriating! Its as if they don't know a new term's coming and it takes them by surprise! What are you going to do? Let him go without support? Keep him at home? Try to do lunchtimes etc yourself (ugh!) ..... Its just not on. Maybe speak to IPSEA? Good luck.

Not only that when you have another child at home how on earth are you expected to help out at lunchtimes etc. Its just not fairSad

Oh our LEA are so caring and sharing. Just had the nursery manager on the phone- apparently the LEA have rung her to say that they are very concerned that she has discussed funding issues with me!!!!!! ie she wasn't meant to have told me that the LEA haven't provided funding and that he now has no individual support. Which planet????? Anyway nursery manager told them I had asked and that she wasn't prepared to lie to her parents for them.

Anyway that woman is getting a letter this weekend. Still no funding until the end of the month. Apparently she said I was "very het up" on the phone. That's a joke I was perfecly polite, calm and not het up at all. I said how pleased we were with ds1's progress at school, and thanked the statementing officer for ringing me back so quickly. If they think that was het up they should see me when I am!

They want another report on him. He's just been statemented for god's sake. How many reports do they need? His statement says quite clearly that he needs full time one to one.

I did think about IPSEA, but its such a small petty thing and I'm sure that by the time they manage to reply it will have been sorted.

I did point out (very calmly) that it couldn't be backdated if they were unable to confirm to the nursery that it would be backdated. Also pointed out that the person who would be most affected by their mistake was ds1.

Sorry to hear about this Jimjams, its not exactly news to the LEA is it. I wonder if they have asked for more reports to stall the funding.
Hope your ds1 gets his support again soon

What a nightmare - will this have to happen throughout his whole time at school? Good luck with the strong letter.
