I work with child with SEN for days a week. At the day I am nt in someone covers me so I can go o uni. The child I work with is gorgeous, funny, happy, strong willed and active and has made outstanding progress this school year.

Today we had a day where I had no uni so I came in and had a catch up with other one to one as she does not communicate well with me! Anyway what I obseved today was awful. She was so negative towards him when he was honestly fantastic we has Christmas concert and he shone. He was singing trying his best standing in the right place. There was not one word of encouragement from her.

Went to line manager and she was useless. SENCO is mmmmm

My question what would you do?

Do you think that this person doesn't like the DC? Is there any way that you could maybe talk to this person to see why she first encourage. Maybe she was having a bad day, or maybe she's not a very positive person?

Have seen her before and thought then that maybe I had caught her on an off day but today was pants. It was more the shouting at him for nothing that was the pits TBH.

Very unprofessional behaviour. What would the HT have to say about it

Report to HT, and log the incident. And if your uni course is in anything relevant, perhaps talk to the tutor for advice. I know that nursing and childcare students are usually taken seriously when they see something bad.

And Sad try not to worry too much, you'll just burn out. My DS is shouted at by staff on a regular basis. It seems to be fairly acceptable to bully mishandle dc with SEN in many schools and if that's the culture in yours, changing it as a p/time LSA would be a very big job.

Sadly, what Maria said.

You can speak to the SENCO again and ask the SENCO whether she thinks you should put in a written note to the HT. the veiled threat might make her take action. A written record is not what any school will want, especially if you give the name of the child in it as the child's parents are then entitled to see the note.
