Hi, it,s Lis36 form scope, hope you are okay, would be nice to talk to you as some of the things you son does are the same as my little boy. I was interested to se that you little boy sleeps on his tummy, Oliver does not sleep very well at night as he does the grasping movements with his hands, but I am a bit nervous about trying him on his tum.

Hi Lismar - sorry I missed this earlier. I was a bit nervous too about putting my ds on his front so I tried doing it for his naps first of all - worked wonderfully, I think it took me no longer than a day or two of this to try him on his front for the night - he was sleeping in the same room at the time I think so I could keep an eye/ear on him. If Oliver turn his head then I'd say give it a go during a nap and see how you get on. Don't be too disappointed if he doesn't like it though, I've read that it's quite common with babies with cp to not like it. Let me know how you get on x

sorry, that should read if Oliver CAN turn his head...

sorry to butt in on your conversation but whenever I see anything to do with cp have to read.Hi Lisa read you on scope.
Just wanted to say my dd(11 on Tuesday) always preferred to sleep on her tum with her bum stuck in the air. she started to do this as soon as she could get into that position.

Lismar36 · 09/04/2006 23:57

He sleeps really well in the day infact I have got a job to wake him for feeds as when he is really tired he jerks, so try not to wake him as i hate seeing him jerk. Everyone I know with babies says they are sleeping 7 - 7 but not Oliver don,t know whether it,s to do with his cp or he's just nocturnal (not sure how you spell it)

hi ntt - check your e-mail. Smile

ntt · 10/04/2006 10:59

Hiya Hub - have sent you a quick email Smile
Lismar - If you search around here you'll soon discover that lots and lots of NT babies (and toddlers) are no where near sleeping through the night - I feel blessed that mine will usually sleep 9 to 10 hours, but that's only been for 2 or 3 months, and sometimes he will still wake during the night.
Hi Bethron - I'm not too bad at the moment thank you Smile Some days are still not too great (not as horrible as they have been though touch wood) when his motor skills seem like they're not progressing at all. But I focus on his personality and his joy at being alive. A few weeks ago I bought him one of \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEAP-FROG-LEARN-AND-GROOVE-activity-centre_W0QQitemZ6050066447QQcategoryZ87175QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\these} which he absolutely loves and appears to be encouraging his head control and hands to work better and (wonderfully) his cause and affect whatsits.
On the down side, it's just beginning to really dawn on dp that ds has problems so he's having some pretty tough days to deal with which is heartbreaking for me, but at least I know how to be strong for him. I can give him all the positive words I gave myself when I was going through it.

Did I read that A's seizures are getting better? I hope so. Are you feeling better? The turn in the weather is certainly helping me x

Ds loves the centre we attend once a week - it has a hydrotherapy pool he loves to float around in, lots of bright toys and lovely dedicated staff, a sensory room, massage, makaton, and, importantly, heaps of mums going through the same stuff. They have a nursery there which he can attend from the age of 2 so I have a little bit of ds-free time to look forward to too eventually - gosh a bit of "me" time - I wonder if there'll be any "me" left by then lol Grin.

BIG Birthday kisses to your boy - I can't believe he's nearly 2 either - how did that happen?! I can't remember - but did you ever try cranial osteopathy for him?
