For an elective CS I would go for an epidural (no good for an emergency CS)
The mums seemed to get better much quicker and it appeared the babies fared better

Having had an epidural after seeing so many like giddypants I was terrified, hand on heart it was a doddle and I am a big wuss.

Isitme1 · 12/01/2013 17:36

I had epidural for when I went down for emergency surgery after having ds and I kept thinking right if I move they will get the wrong thing and then im f***.

Ive had some pretty bad tummy pain. I've had to lie down. Ds is in high chair and got pump on. He wont eat his tea and had very little dinner.

Dh has got no tea yet as im in pain but irs tough. Once it gets better I will cook x

Internet seems to be working temporarily after headache inducing phone calls to talktalk. fingers x.

take it easy isitme. I'm sure DH is capable of feeding himself Grin If not thats what take takeaways are for!

Think DD should go for the epidural tbh. As she knows most of the anaesthetists she can tell them to b off if they are a bit naff!

DGS doing so well on his BD. Tolerating ever increasing amounts Smile

Giddypants · 12/01/2013 20:46

There is only 1 anaesthetist who I really don't want that's rotating onto obs in feb, he's a bit of a slime, so will be ordering him out!

I'm a big wuss when it comes to pain, I can't even do headaches without complaining to someone!
I've got some hypnobirthing CDs which I found helpful last time to help me zone out whilst the chaos was going on around me, going to order the cesarean one to listen to later.

2old I think that I'm stressing myself out with the medical knowledge I have. Ignorance is bliss sometimes!
I think that looking after the really poorly patients brings home how fragile life is, maybe time for another profession?

2old2beamum · 12/01/2013 21:01

Tell DD the old mum"old fart" in Cromer agrees with her old mum it will be nothing like an emergency CS scarey.
Glad DGS is tolerating BD. Wouldn't dare try it on DS jej fed and DD has constant diarrhoea.

Grandaughter x hope DH enjoyed his own cooked meal and you enjoyed yours
DH and I take it in turns

Isitme1 · 12/01/2013 21:17

Giddypants NO we chose the best job in the world. What other job could you get up in the morning/night and not know what was going to slap you in the face. You will never forget the buzz, that is why we chose ITU/NICU.
Mind you is this why we chose to adopt DC's with disability that was our choice Your beautiful DS was not your choice but I know he is so loved and he couldn't be loved more by you, DH and his doting GP's
Use your knowledge to your advantage. I do I am never rude I listen politely and say I may be talking out of my backside but---- they then listen. Mind you it took 3 years for "they" realised DD had an immune problem after me banging on.
Sleep well all you little scallywags ( haha mine are in respite Grin)

Isitme1 · 13/01/2013 16:23

Uterine inversion

Thats what I suffered from with ds.
Just seen the dr but they wont say if I canhave a ssection yet or not. They need notes from previous birth.
That really upset me. I can't do that again x

OP posts:
Giddypants · 14/01/2013 19:33

isitme the way you bring your child into this world is your choice, they can suggest options which are available to you but ultimately if you requested to have a section they have to honour your request, just be firm!

2old I wouldn't really give up ICU, I went into work today to have some blood taken my colleagues are all lovely and supportive, consultants are approachable and like just chatting passing the time of day etc. and most of the patients are good to look after especially if they are sedated and can't ask you for this than and t'other

Isitme1 · 14/01/2013 19:45

I said I can't go through that again. I was becoming teary eyed. It really did damage me.
I said I want a birth plan so I can relax.

She said we will probably induce you.

I said no I want section.

She wasn't the consultant so I hope I see her next month. I did request to see her but didn't get a chance to.

I've been told im high risk for pre eclampsia due to kidney problems, migraines, protein In urine etc and I want all hospital care. She said no.

Giddypants · 14/01/2013 20:51

They tried to pull that on me, oh we can monitor your progress through labour, if there is any sign of distress we ca do a section then, I told her no I want a section, and only a section I already have one brain damaged child I don't want to risk anything going wrong with this one. She agreed and wrote on my note for ELCS at 39 weeks!
Stand your ground, you have very good reasons why you should have a section, it's not about too posh to push, it's about them providing the best care they can, which you are entitled to.

How's your mum doing?

2old2beamum · 14/01/2013 21:06

DGS I am unable to advise you.BUT
I may be wrong but issue number 1 is my DGGS contracted meningitis at 9 weeks it must have been horrendous for you and because of my beautiful son I know your sadness.
But it was nothing to do with your delivery NOW from a midwive's view these are not connected medically But as a decrepid old midwife and a mum of 8 SN DC's I know where you are coming from. You are scared and I would be too. There is no way I would go through a normal delivery again not possible and you have rights so don't let them push you around.
Love to that little man
Hope this makes sense.XXX

2old2beamum · 14/01/2013 21:13

Oh my god talk about cross posting (DS3 deciding to have a seizure)
giddypants is oldsneeze, hope you are ok

2old2beamum · 14/01/2013 21:14

Bloody computer how is oldsneeze it was meant to say XX

Isitme1 · 14/01/2013 22:10

Granny I know they aren't connected.
My point to the silly dr who wasnt understanding what I was saying was I almost died and if it wasn't for the male student Chinese midwife for pressing the emergency button I would of.
That's when the Chinese surgeon came in and screamed at the mws 'trying to put everything back and sew me back up' as 'blood waw squirting' and my bits 'crumbling like cottage cheese'
Sorry tmi but that was their words.

I physically and mentally can't do that again x

Isitme1 · 14/01/2013 22:11

Sneeze I am going to stand my ground.

Giddypants · 15/01/2013 08:35

Hope DS3 is ok 2old.
Mum is fine its all 'q' word here at the mo.

Isitme did they have your old notes when you went to see them?

Isitme1 · 15/01/2013 08:43

It was the mw at my last appt last month that suggested that as all I could remember was everything coming out with him. once I googled it I I realised that was everything that happened and the silly dr agreed with me too.
I said to her I was is labour from Monday til I had ds on Friday morning. Waters broke on Monday night. I was having contractions every 3 mins for all that time.
She said I want to correct you. We say someone is in labour when they start dilating. I told the stupid cow I had a lot of trouble dilating and I was supposed to be induced to help things. (Which the mw that swore at mum said I will make sure your last to go down to be induced).

Im sorry I keep blabing on about this. I haven't been able to talk about it properly for a long time.

Sneeze when did they sort out your birth plan.
I tried to convince her yesterday to sort it all out but jer argument was your only 13 weeks and its too early to say. I said I dont want to be stressing about it during pg.

On a different note h was an ass.
And still is.
I took him with me for support and I got nothing. He doesn't realise what happened. So ive got a h who isn't talking to me. Great.

Isitme1 · 15/01/2013 08:46

Nope they didn't. Its a different hospital from where I had ds. Im now at st Marys womans hospital next to the royal children's hospital. They tried to get them last time but got nothing. I bet the last hosp will say we've lost the notes.

Giddypants · 15/01/2013 08:57

Ha birth plan was in place before I conceived! I informed the consultant when I first saw her think at aroud 18 weeks.
Definitely before 20week scan.

Sounds like you had a horrendous time I agree you should go down the more planned route.

It would be great if all babies just popped out with no complications eh?

Isitme1 · 15/01/2013 09:00

Definitely.

We would all love a nice and easy birth.
A family members water broke at 7pm. She went to hosp at 10 and had ds 12pm.
That's what id love.
How is ds x

OP posts:
2old2beamum · 15/01/2013 11:48

Bloody midwives are right up their own arses You have reminded me why I got out when I did.
Ofcourse you need a birth plan don't they realise having a baby is a big thing
The trouble is midwives become hard, to my shame I found it hard not to cry
at any birth I dealt with.
Stick to your guns

Tell DH to think of you

Isitme1 · 15/01/2013 14:57

Granny you are the mw so what does uterine inversion and uterine synaechia mean to you?
Please correct me if im wrong but has the second occurred becaus3 of the 1st?
Because of the scarring from the first?
From my knowledge dr Google thats what that means?
Dh has been a bit more understanding.

I told him he was like sisters hubby who is a bastard Grin and now he has realised the wife has hormonal imbalance lol.
