Went to the OOH surgery and saw a lovely nurse, I made a note on her form that she has ASD.

The nurse really got that she has dificulties with pain thresholds and sensory issues.

Luckily we managed to get a sample and she has a UTI, I thought she had appendicitis. She hasnt eaten since friday and has been complaining of pain in her side.

It is so difficult to know when she is genuinely in pain because a microscopic injury can cause a total meltdown Sad

I feel really bad now because she told me on Friday that she felt ill.

The nurse asked if she drinks at school and I said not much other than OJ at snacktime. She said OJ is really bad because it is acidic so we need to push water or weak squash.

Dd3 holds her wee for as long as poss so need to work on that too.

Anyone got any ideas how I can stop this happening againSad

Just a question about the school toilets. What are they like? Are they cramped, smelly (probably!), what facilities do they have for hand drying etc. is it near or far from class, does she get any privacy in them? All of mine hate hand dryers. Too noisy.

Could she use the disabled toilet at school if it's nicer (less smelly and more private?) We have a child on a medical care plan at my school and she and all staff know she can't wait for the toilets and can use the disabled one if she wants to. It could come under reasonable adjustments, maybe?

Thanks all,
leonie she said she felt sick yesterday and didnt eat, no burning pee here either,in the night and today cramping pain in her side and backSad

Sally and Ellen, the toilets are not dire but still abit smelly. I will ring and ask the SEN team if she can use the disabled toilet before she goes back. I am going to keep her off till at least wednesday. She needs a break anyway.

I have been out and bought her some treats to cheer her up and hopefully get her to eat a bit.

ds2 has a drink buddy at school, so everytime X has a drink DS2 has to get his drink bottle too.
It save the teacher constantly checking & nagging & the other boy really loves that hes helping ds2.
DS2 uses the disabled toilet at school as he is very anxious about going into the normal loos but he ahppily goes alone to the disabled loo when he needs too.
We are hoping that as drinking becomes part of his routine he will continue to do it unprompted, it is on his visual t/table but somehow he manages to skip that stage unless prompted by his buddy

Good idea mymate

I might go back to putting her grape and peach squash in her bottle too as it is virtually clear and looks like water.

Dd3's best friend has a 1 2 1 who is also one of Dd3's named adults so I might be able to recruit her on the drinking reminders.

It is weird though, as a toddler she never stopped drinkingSad

Robinson's do a pear and apple squash that looks like water, especially in one of those translucent water bottles. In fact, DS2 prefers lemon squash, hypo sensitive, likes strong tastes, and that looks like water, too. Wink

Ineedalife · 25/11/2012 16:23

Thanks ellen.

TBH I tend to aviod robinsons as they usually contain Aspatame but will have a look.

Dont worry I wont tellWink[Grin

Yes, they all seem to be 'No Added Sugar' these days, for that read added sweetners instead. I think you need an enormous supermarket to get a decent choice.

Ineedalife · 25/11/2012 16:36

Dd3 drinks Asda Grape and Peach high juice and I have Sainsbury's Apple and Mango. Neither are No added sugar.

Aldi do an Orange high juice and a blackcurrant which arent No added sugar but you are right it is getting harder to find.

Morrisons hardly do any standard squashes nowSad

I am a bit obsessive about what the Dd's drink as the chemicals seemed to have a bad effect on Dd1.

I do a once a month trip to Asda and Sainsburys to stock upGrin
