Letter to chair of governors?

I am currently deciding if I should get my concerns re, this useless school in writing. I was thinking and maybe read somewhere that its a good idea to sgow further down the statementing line, when school try to make us out to be unreasonable.

Dd is not going back to this school but I've let 2 previous issues like this go, without getting it all on paper trail and I've struggled to get people to believe me.

Do you think this would go to chair of governors?

Have you made a complaint to the Head Teacher in writing first? If not, it is likely to (should) be bounced back by the CoG. So best to write first to the head, then when she doesn't answer to your satisfaction, escalate to HoG.

What Lougle said. You have to get an unsatisfactory response from the HT first in order to be taken seriously by the Governors.

In fact, usually, you have to start this process with the class teacher, but you've probably gone beyond that.

Thank you. I will re-print the letter to the head.

I just want it all wrote down and documented correctly.

Also, when I got dd school file it was very basic and nothing at all from infant and junior school years. This is very confusing as she's had lots of intervention over time.

IPSEA has some good information regarding making a complaint. The school will refer you to their complaints policy etc but if you are complaining about how the HT has handled things then it is appropriate to write to chair of governors. You may find that they don't take you seriously especially if your dc isn't returning to the school. But if you want to make sure history doesn't repeat itself for anyone else following a similar experience to yours it's worth letting them know. Even if it's just for your peace of mind.

Thanks endof. I just hope they don't try to force the situation so she HAS to go back there until we find something more suitable.

One of the reasons I've never been taken seriously, is the complete lack of info within her scho records. I'm sure they've got a parallel one somewhere! :)

From our last school, I understood that they could keep back some records if they felt it necessary. It was funny though that when they did need some documents they appeared without us evem knowing they'd existed. Then of course following our complaint, they claimed not to have been in receipt of other relevant bits - you'll be unlikely to ever prove either way but at least they'll know, that you knew (iykwim)!

That could be the same situation with me then. However, i'm choosing my battles very carefully now and have decided to make a comment to necessary person, as and when required Grin
