Went on for two hours with powerful testimony from MPs who have autistic children.
Good to see it being discussed - went on for over 2 hours !

yes, it was very good. I could feel myself getting quite emotional with some of the things being said too.

It's good to see it was given a good opportunity to be heard..
There was another thread started yesterday to link people to it...it was well worth tuning into Smile

Thanks found the other thread . Only heard about it on Yesterday in Parl this morning. Usual poor turnout of mps but those there were cross party and engaged .
Ed Timpson was woolly and vague as per but good to hear asd being talked about on floor of House.

'More than half a million people in this country have autism?about one in 100. If we include the families and carers of people with autism, more than 2 million people will be affected in some way. That is about 3,000 people in an average parliamentary constituency, according to studies by the Information Centre for Health and Social Care. As the parent of a child on the autism spectrum?like some other Members of this House?I am firmly in that category.' - Robert Buckland.

Hmmmm - it is huge isn't it? Shock So everyone out there who thinks it isn't your problem - well it is! Really interesting debate about support and education plus unemployment statistics for autism - the highest of any disability group in the uk. This really does come down to early diagnosis, support and treatments. The last being the one that it is most important and yet least discussed. We are so far behind that becoming the topic of conversation it is scary. Why after 50 years of the NAS are we still talking about early diagnosis and schooling? Come on world - wake up and make some noise! www.facebook.com/groups/Brainchild.org.uk/
