Dd1 sings. She always has, probably always will.

She is currently obsessed with Adele, and listens to it on her iPad daily. She will not wear headphones (sensory issues) so I have to suffer it too. She has recently branched out to listening to some Take That as well (a welcome relief, tbh)

Anyway. She has 3 songs that she really enjoys at the moment, and sings them on repeat. She has not been singing out loud much for a whe, and has only just re-started. Last week, it was nice to hear her enjoying her singing so much.

This week, my ears are bleeding Hmm Grin

WIBU to remove the offending songs from her iPad to at least force some diversity? Or is that too cruel?

I used to be able to take months of repetition. Now I am fed up after a week.

We've tried music lessons before. It's tricky, as she has a massive language delay, and really needs to connect with someone before she'll listen to them. And finding someone with the necessary expertise to help her is difficult, as they tend to pitch the lessons at her musical ability rather than her understanding level, so she switches off as doesn't have a clue what to do.

She does some keyboard work at school, and we play the piano together at home too, Nd sing together all the time (when I am not despairing Grin), but that is all.

Awwww, she is gorgeous! Just think of all the really really annoying song she would be singing....think Joe dolce shuttupa ya face...worlds most annoying song ever.

marchduck · 16/11/2012 21:23

silverfrog, watched earlier, your DD is fabulous!

silverfrog · 16/11/2012 21:54

Thanks Smile

She has finally stopped singing and gone to sleep. That's 6 hours of non-stop (it seems) Adele. And there will be more tomorrow, not even broken up by school attendance

Shuddupya face would be a welcome reprieve, I tell you Grin

Oh god, no, Silver don't say that. My dp has an unbelievably annoying habit of singing stupid phrases in a ridiculously exaggerated Manchester accent. For the first two years of ds' life we had Shuddupya face Angry

More recently it was the "this is my allotment" line from Mr Bloom's Nusery (cbeebies).

And then he wonders why ds gets stuck in a loop.
Aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhhhh.

Honestly, anything would be better than more Adele at this point. She has been listening to it all year I think.

She will move on, she always does. And the new songs will be a welcome relief for ooooh, all of a week or so.

It's the following me round and singing at me that I object to I think. Especially when trying to do something else...

silver, Dd3 also likes Adele, at the moment she is insisting on playing the track which says something about Shit, she knows its a swear word, I think that is what attracts her to it.

Little buggerGrin

Hope your Adele phase passes soon.

Dd3 sings in a community choir would your Dd be able to cope with something like that.

We tried singing lessons but Dd3 wouldnt sing because she didnt know the lady.

The choir works because her sister sang with them so she has known the adults for a while.

Dd3 has started on christmas songs now so I will be going bonkers within a weekGrin

silverfrog · 16/11/2012 22:26

oh god, is there a track with swearing on it? I'm supposed to know this, aren't I? Blush

oh well, it'll pop up at some poitn I guess!

A choir wouldn't work - she wouldn't have the attention span or desire to sing anything that hasn't taken her fancy - I haven't worked out yet what 'grabs' her, it seems so random. If I could work it out, then I could maybe replace Adele, but so far my suggestions don't really hit the mark.

We haven't really had Christmas songs on repeat yet - only as piano pieces, not sung. still, thee's always a first time Grin

How about a microphone and a mirror in HER bedroom, clutching at straws but maybe she would stop following you if you could get her to stay in one place.

Lougle · 16/11/2012 22:35

Oh it wouldn't show me Sad

I could swap you though. DD2 has learned 2 lines from 'Lets go Fly a Kite'.

'Let's go fly a kite, up in the sky la la, Let's go fly a kite....how does it go Mum?'

inappropriatelyemployed · 16/11/2012 22:38

Oh can't see it - it says its private!

silverfrog · 16/11/2012 22:39

sorry, lougle, I switched it back to private. hang on and I'll open it up again.

mymate: sadly, part of the attraction is winding me up. she does like a mirror/reflective surface, and will spend ages early on in a song infatuation in front of the mirror working out how to make the owrds (she learns the songs phonetically, she has little idea of what most of the words mean).

right now, she knows it is irritating me, and so she is making sure she is right next to me while singing Grin
