Planning trip to DLP but want to do a day trip into Paris. Definitely want to do the Eiffel tower but any other suggestions about what's good with kids. kids will be 7 and 5 (has ASD) when we go so looking for something to just give them a taster of france/paris iconic stuff. Was wondering about doing an open top bus tour or river cruise or Notre Dame/sacre coeur and monmatre but not really sure how they would work in terms of transport between places and wondering what other people had found work with kids

Also looking for experiences of Special needs esp transport in Paris, metro . DS can walk but will mostly be in a special needs buggy. Thinking train into paris but would I then need to metro to the tower?

Recommendations for books that might help on the disability bit would also be gratefully appreciated

We took our girls to Paris this summer, also 5 (sn) and 7 (nt). We did Les cars rouge which are hop on/off open top buses. They come around every 10 minutes or so and go around all the landmarks (except Sacre Coeur) all day.

We stayed outside of Paris and just commuted in on the RER each day which was fine, then picked up Les cars rouge from Notre Dame. we started by getting on the bus and just staying on for the whole loop to get our bearings and then did the hop on/off bit. you can get your tickets on the bus and the more days you do the cheaper it gets.

we didn't have a buggy, as when DD2 got tired she just went on DH's shoulders so can't really comment on that one.

The book we took was 'eyewitness family guide paris' which I can highly recommend. We used it a lot and was accurate and informative.

We took the Bato bus ( its a boat service along the seine that you can hop on and off as you want) and found it fantastic - only problem is steps up and down , but the people running the boat helped, us with dd's buggy ( but she was only 1 1/2years) . You get the best view of the Eiffel tower from the river and can hop off on front of the tower, if you want to go up. Once you are on your mobility buggy wouldn't be a problem. Lots of room on the boat for it.
The boat has lots of stops and you get on and off as you want - great way to see my favorite cityGrin
Only thing is if going in winter, wrap up warm.

Went to Paris with 4 SN 3 Downs and one CP in wheelchair. We found Parisians fantastic. Embaressed to have jumped queue on metro. Lift broken at one station man switched escalater from down to up and helped us with wheelchair. Restuarants fantastic even lent us a champagne bucket to empty DS's urinary catheter bag as toilets downstairs.
Best holiday ever!!!
Agree Bateaux bus fantastic ENJOY
Eiffel Tower awesome as was Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame and very helpful. But I love Paris

Pre book your tickets at the Eiffel tower.
We didn't and queued for over an hour to buy them.

We also used bato bus - on the map it will show you which stops have stairs down to the boat - I think there were a couple which would have been difficult with buggy.
For the Eiffel Tower - do you speak French? The reason I ask is that disabled people have a special unmarked queue - you don't have to queue for tickets, and they then take you to a much shorter queue to get on the lift. I had read about this, so asked a uniformed guy who told me that it was not possible to do any of this.... waited a couple of minutes, then asked a uniformed lady who walked me to the front of the ticket queue, then put us at the front of the lift queue (where Mr Grumpy was now patrolling ha!) - so definitely worth asking again if you are refused. Sacre Coeur is quite a hike from the rest of the iconic places, so worth getting bus etc if possible.
