apparently.... I'm taking it with a pinch of salt but someone must have said similar.

A TA at school, 'DD what are you good at? People like you are supposed to be good at something'.

Confused and a bit Angry

Rofl at "I see dead people" Grin Hope one day I have the opportunity and courage to use that!

My ds can tell you the birthdays of most if his classmates, how old many of their parents are, what number house they live at, and an emerging supertalent is being able to tell you how many minutes there are till this programme ends/lunchtime/suppertime/bedtime/he goes to school for/it takes to get to school, granny's house, or the moon zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Think it was pagwatch who came up with the "he can fly" line.

HecatePropylaea · 13/11/2012 18:56

I still do Grin

Delivered with a straight face, it's a killer Grin

None of mine are autistic (although that's up for debate with DS1 and DS2 has sensory issues as well as his physical disability) but I wanted to join in.

DS1 is an expert in DS2. He is often seen with DS2's teacher giving her "advice" and telling her everything she is doing wrong Grin

DS2 knows a lot about the DDA and bluffs what he doesn't.

DS3 can eat 4 bananas in one sitting

EllenJaneisstillnotmyname · 13/11/2012 19:03

It was you, Hecate! Grin I have 'he can fly' ready if necessary, but no one has asked me for ages! Though I quite like 'he sees dead people' now.

WilsonFrickett · 13/11/2012 19:04

4 bananas in one sitting!!! That's left me speechless Grin

signandsmile · 13/11/2012 19:05

we often refer (between dh and I) to ds as velcro-boy Blush when he is having a 'stuck to mummy', (or daddy) day Grin

PurplePidjin · 13/11/2012 19:13

I'd prefer to lean in and whisper

"I see thick people"

But never had anyone quite rude enough to warrant it or been too scared of being fired for gross misconduct

elliejjtiny · 13/11/2012 19:21

wilson he'd probably eat more if I let him but the rest of us like bananas too. I'm sure he is half child, half monkey Grin

HecatePropylaea · 13/11/2012 19:23

yup. here

WilsonFrickett · 13/11/2012 19:24

But, but how does he poo??????

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 13/11/2012 20:33

Ha ha when I'm asked what DS special talent is I too also say shhh he can fly but we like to keep it a secret lol
The look on the face of whoever asked is ace :)
:( when people who support DS say our children(referring to children with autism) .i spent years thinking all the proffestionals I'd ever had meetings with had children with autism too.

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/11/2012 20:49

Lol at whispering 'I see thick people!'

bialystockandbloom · 13/11/2012 21:46

Oops sorry hecate thought it was pag who coined the flying thing. Kudos to you, it's a great line Grin

Oh god I DETEST the "our children" thing too. Angry Angry

Very funny, will have to remember these.

DS is doing door numbers too.

PurplePidjin · 14/11/2012 07:45

The "thick people" thing is actually dniece's talent, i suspect. She's certainly not the only person with SLD and limited communication I've met/worked with who takes to some people and not others - and the people on the Avoid list tend to be the cunts less understanding :o

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has noticed similar?

TaggieCampbellBlack · 14/11/2012 07:49

Thats 2 things this week that have raised me hackles (see my thread about my stupid ignorant bitch sister).

DD is absolutely brilliant, if not gifted, in picking out the cunts from the decent. I'd trust her judgement every single time.

It just goes to show what happens when you trust your instincts, i guess...
