Dh is upstairs reading the girls a story, and I have ds curled up on my lap watching Little Bear, and I don't know why but I suddenly feel wrecked and have tears pouring down my face. I think maybe the appointment we had with ds's paed followed by an exhausting holiday and ds having what could have been a fit, might have just all hit me and I have spent the day trying to keep ds happy whilst making Halloween decorations with the girls, and really I just want to crawl into a hole and cry and sleep.

I don't want to be crying when dh comes downstairs, please say something distracting!

Oh yeah. I do now. It's coz I changed my accent when I left!

hazeyjane · 29/10/2012 19:53

What Little Bear needs is some kick-ass, ninja squirrels to liven things up a bit.

My friend was once woken by the most horrendous noise outside his window, when he threw back the curtains he was confronted by a pair of squirrels vigorously shagging on the branch of a tree right in front of the window, he says he can never see squirrels as cute little critters anymore.

Sorry that others are feeling gloomy too, hopefully we can all honk each other a bit happier.

Starlight - I am unable to listen to your lovely link, but I am trying to learn the ukelele - I can play twinkle, twinkle little star, but am hoping to progress onto some Smiths songs soon.

Have a good cry - then youtube search spike/angel funny. Or just click here: I love watching superheros be petty

frizzcat · 29/10/2012 20:02

No Keepon - I was too busy fighting for my life, but also and most importantly someone's got to take a stand against these squirrels! I mean who do they think they are running around with their tails, entertaining our children and lulling me into a false sense of security - never again will I be whipping out my monkey nuts willy nilly.

I will also be very pissed off - if I find myself on YBF because someone else had captured the drama and then gets to claim £250 on the back of my terrifying ordeal!!!!

inappropriatelyemployed · 29/10/2012 20:17
made me laugh recently.

Chin up, you are doing a bloody brilliant job!

Back for another winge, my laptop crashed today and DP has spent all afternoon/ evening trying to rebuild it. And my workload at work seems to be getting bigger and bigger every day.

KOKOagainandagain · 29/10/2012 20:24

Try sharing a garden with them - you start to know the personality of individual squirrels - this is not right!

I had to move house in the end - but at least I retained my sanity!!

Aw I was ridiculously tearful last week (for no reason whatsoever). Sometimes catharsis is a good thing.

Not sure if your taste is same as mine, but if ever I need cheering up I go to youtube and look up Laurel & Hardy dance from Way Out West (or anything of them, actually), and the scene from Woody Allen Play It Again Sam where he's getting ready for a blind date. Or The Odd Couple.

Ah the ukelele. Bizarrely my children have discovered George Formby - my dd (just turned 3yo) can't get enough of it Confused

I am aware that my last post betrays the fact I live in a timewarp back in either the 1930s or 60s Grin

I spent many an afternoon this summer, trying to protect my strawberries from the squirrels in my garden. I was about 3 from away from the plants one day, when one just ran up to steal one. I shouted "oi", he paused, stood on his hind legs and looked at me with this face Hmm. Then the cheeky fecker carried on, picked the sb off with his mouth, looked at me again and ran off. I think I was so shocked I just stood there mouth open.

You would imagine I would have been much more on the ball after that, but no! The same thing happened the other day, except this time it was with an apple! Seriously, I kid you not. A squirrel ran down the garden with a whole apple in his mouth. Not sure I would be able to do that. Gonna invest in heavy duty netting for next years growing experiments, or I'll have rspca round for having obese squirrels.

Hope you feel better soon hazey. Flowers

moosemama · 29/10/2012 20:46

Can I join in?

My ears are still ringing from having all 3 dcs screaming as if the world was coming to an end - one downstairs in our very echoey loo and the other two upstairs ... until ds2 ran down, whilst wailing, to tell tales on ds1.

Bleurrrrgh!

According to my mum, who apparently is in the know about this sort of thing there are very high energies around at the moment, bringing with them many challenges. Apparently this will also mean heightened emotions and emotional purging for many people ... so now you know. Wink

Hope you are feeling a bit better now Hazey. Be kind to yourself, you have a helluva lot to deal with and it's ok to release the pressure valve every now and again - in fact sometimes you just have to, or else you'd explode.

Aaaaaaaaaaah, ds has finally fallen asleep, dh made me a messy egg sandwich (my favourite comfort food - fortunately he hadn't seen me crying, because by the time he came downstairs I was googling images of ninja squirrels and chuckling to myself thanks to you lot, but I think he realised that I wasn't myself), and I am drinking a glass of wine and watching Hot Fuzz.

bialystockandbloom are you me? I have a whole collection of Laurel+Hardy, and a still from Play It Again Sam on my wall (the dds asked if it was a picture of me and dh when we were younger - I was very flattered, dh less so!)

FirstTimer, Buffy or Angel anytime, lifts my mood.

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster lately. It's so frustrating the whole looking for a diagnosis thing, because you flail around in the gloom for ages, and when a light is turned on giving you a bit more of a picture of what is going on, part of you is relieved, but then you are also reminded of the enormity of what is going on.

Thankyou all for lifting my mood,I am so glad I found this lovely corner of Mumsnet.

Ineedalife · 29/10/2012 22:22

Glad you are feeling a bit better hazy.

I think my problem is probably that i havent had a break for a while.

Dd3 is very intense and Dp is struggling with her more than usual. He was supposed to be taking her out on friday so i could have a bit of time out at the end of half term before going back to work.

When it came to it she wanted to stay at home so he went out and left her with me.

I had a moan later in the day and he did kind of get it but then my opportunity had gone.

I am not at work tomorrow, have a lot of paper work to get through, but might hide it somwhere and go out.

auntevil · 29/10/2012 22:44

Apart from spending all day cleaning, my day was going OK......until I tried to put on some verucca treatment onto DS1's foot. The dyspraxic hypermobile foot (attached to the rest of his dyspraxic, hypermobile frame) spun the wrong way round and knocked the bottle - all over my chest.
I now have an intense burning, on parts of my body that shouldn't ever have to have intense burning. I'm just hoping the skin doesn't start to peel.
What has eased the pain are some of your funnies. Loved the bodyform reply btw

coff33pot · 29/10/2012 23:50

auntevil........OUCH! I feel your pain!

Did you get some on the foot though or was it a disaster all round Wink

I use the freeze spray one and its great as only hits the spot and DS didnt feel a thing. Nor would you!

I am glad you feeling perkier Hazey and that messy sarni sounds great.

I am still laughing at the squirrel attack! Definately and Are You Being Framed sort of picture!

Frizz, come round for dinner with yer monkey nuts. I need someone to lure pissing squirrels out of my house. I just started a Fred in chat because my 'the Voice' viewing was somewhat interrupted by a squirrel on the back of the armchair. Said armchair is now covered in squirrel crap, but the crapper was evicted after shenanigans various.

If you need distraction, Hazey, I'm looking for ideas how to stop the little bastards getting in. This is made slightly trickier by the fact I have no idea where they are getting in. But the fact they are popping up in the living room is freaking me out.

Squirrels are the Devil's work. Last year we chased five round the girls' room after I made dh cut a hole in the wall (I could hear them) and we caught a few in the cupboard.

And now They are Back. Feck.

Anyone wanna buy a house? Rodents come free.

Grin Definitely the best and most supportive and most positive corner of the entire site! I love the way that someone else always knows what to say, I'm cackling over the numerous squirrel sagas.

I think we all need a large gold cup, full of alcohol to celebrate, this one happens to have a large wild bull having a meltdown on it...
