Autism signs?

Hi wonder if anyone can tell me if this sounds like autism at all?
Its about my Dnephew his mum can't get an offical diagnoise yet as he is still too young according to GP (just turned 3yrs).

He walks on his toes a lot, mostly in circles just had his birthday party and he didn't interact with anyone except the people he lives with, I sat right in front of him and tried to say hi but he looked right through me as if I wasn't there, he isn't deaf.
He flaps his arms a lot and makes noises mostly toungue rolling but doesn't speak.

I am concerned and the whole family is too, my dsis is young and lives quite a distance from us so doesn't have much support.

Could anyone advise and I can pass it on to her?

I don't agree with the GP. My DS was dx with ASD at 3. Can she go to a SALT drop in self referral clinic? It's a pain when GP's don't want to see what is going on. What's her Health Visitor like? Talk to the HV about her concerns.

My DS was referred to a developmental paed by the HV before he was 3, and DXed with ASD 6 months later. I'd get your DSis to go back to the GP or HV and insist on a referral to someone who is a specialist, the GP is just delaying things.

DD was diagnosed with Asd at 3 as well.

GPs often know very little about Asd/developmental disorders. Your DSis should get him referred to a developmental paed.

Has he ever been seen by a Salt? Would also chase up referral for salt or self refer.

She needs to go back to gp and insist on a referral. If he goes to nursery or preschool perhaps they could also back her . It's nonsense that you can't diagnose at 3yo!!

3 is not too young as others have said, my ds is not 3 yet and already has the diagnosis but the gp may not know enough about it so advice her to get him referred to the nearest child development centre (should be attached to hospital) she could try pushing the gp for it but for my ds i got that referral through taking him to a slt drop in assessment which was at the childrens centre, so if anything like that available near you it should be a good option. did hv not pick up anything at his 2 year check either?

What everyone else says. She needs to get used to being pushy, DX will help the whole family. My son was DX'd with Aspergers at 3.5 by local autism assessment team (via developmental paediatrician.)

Your sister has to go back to the GP (or a different GP) and insist on a referral to a developmental paediatrician.

From my experience, gp's don't know a lot about it. Obviously that will change between different gp's but on the whole it's not something they're experts in by any means.
