What age is appropriate for a child to sit in on their own IEP review?

Just curious really.....any suggestions?

DS sat in on his and he is 7yrs.

I expect it is when they understand what it is, what it is about, and want to.

from whenever they can really, even if at a young age they have no input as long as they are not going to be upset by being talked about then why not.
ds2 still doesnt come to his & he is 10 but he would sooner poke himself with hot sticks than be the subject of a conversation

DD sat in for her Annual reviews in yr 6 and yr 7/8. After a while I said that she had contributed enough and now it was time to head off for lessons. She had interesting things to say at the last AR as its all on whiteboards. People write down their objectives for her, what's been a success and not, what still needs work etc. she hasn't been included in an IEP as yet, but then her issues are more to do with SALT and Deaf Awareness.

Secondary Schools seem to include children in their reviews. DS came to his from Yr 7 onwards, but the SENCo spoke to us before and after his part. He was usually only there for about 10 minutes, which was more than enough for him.
He did not attend reviews in Primary.

I could have written stillsmarting's post. DS came for about the first 10 minutes of his last AR in Y7, and never before. Depends on their ability, I suppose, but secondaries like to make DC part of the process, including NT parent's evenings, etc.
