Have just had a phone call from them, they are coming to Kent and have asked if I would like to attend a 2 day assesment with Amelia!!!Shock

Can't afford it....but is this worth it. Please help me decide.

Dingle - if you can go then I would say do it.

We found the Bibic experience very worthwhile and a positive experience.

The long journey for us was a bit of a pain so if they are coming near to you than def. consider it.

Dingle, did you get my e-mail? Never confident on hotmail.

RIng them and ask about fundraising. You cna fundraise for BIBIC- and the money raised can go to your BIBIC account I think, so reducing the cost of the assessment.

just a quick reply while eating lunch-have SALT this afternoon so it's all go!!

thanks for your replies, and yes Peachy I did get your email. Thank you.

We are booked in to go down to Herne Bay next Thursday/Friday. I am completing a part bursary form but not sure it will be sucessful. I also asked about the fundraising jimjams.

But whatever, this side of Amelia's statement I thought it would be really beneficial and if we can't get any financila help then we can pay in installments.

Fio- I haven't got all the details confirmed but it's in Herne Bay Infant's School...from what I can remember..is that Stanley Road? Didn't write it all down as letter of confirmation is being sent.

Let's hope it's money well spent!Grin

Please help_ ia m still uncertain of this. It all seems so rushed.

Have had a questionnaire in the postfrom BIBIC asking all sorts of info, about the labour, the birth...our medical history.. OK I admit some may be of use, but it seems rather irrelevant for a child with DS!

Can the report at the end of this be used as evidence for a statement?

Dingle.
Apply for the bursary...its BIBIC's policy to never turn anyone away through lack of funding.

The info request forms are beneficial for the therapists to put together the therapy plan for Amelia....I know I read some of the questions and thought why???? But having had the BIBIC experience I now understand why they needed the info.....gives them the whole picture IYKWIM?

Good luck hun....hope all goes well.

Also wanted to add that without the supporting evidence we had from BIBIC I am sure we would not have got J's statement.
It really did highlight all of his needs and made the LEA aware that problems associated with sensory difficulties needed to be addressing in J's statement.
We did pay extra to have the EP's report which was fundamental in making sure his educational needs were fully met and without it we would still be home edding J, as all the LEA would offer was a mainstream placement with 18 hours 1;1.
Once the EP's statement was submitted to the LEA they changed their minds and then offered the special school placement we had been requesting.

Go for it if you can....it is such a worthwhile experience.

I'd second JM, things that you think couldn't possibly be relevant suddenly seem so important once BIBIC explain it to you!

BIBIC are the only thing that kept me sane in the last few weeks when Sam's behaviour went from bad to downright dangerous. Instead of doing the normal - for - us stuff at the visit they took me right through all the stuff needed for Sam- how to calm him, anger management, even safe restraint. Yet the girl in the next room was doing speech exercises. it's the personal level that's amazing, and that's why the questionnaire is what it is.
