Since finding the choc biscuits 2 nights ago ds1 seems to have got a taste for gluten and has been stealing food. He's never done this before (at least not taken things out of packets etc- I was quite impressed from that point of view). Anyway he's got hold of malt loaf, tunis cake (bad) and quality street (not so bad)-in one session- everything is now out of reach. This was yesterday afternoon and he hasn't stopped screaming since 3.30 yesterday. It is absolutely doing my head in. He screamed all through tea, until he went to sleep and since waking up.

And guess what I have to do this morning Tesco's (of F*). Can't leave him here here as my dad is coming around to drill.

Anyway I'm off to shower before I lose my temper. Have to keep reminding myself the poor little man is probably in pain, or at least out of it.

HAving to fight for any reposnse as well. He's away with the fairy's.

Lots and lots of sympathy coming your way. How long will it take to 'leave' his system? Here I am dreading a walk to the corner shop with ds's and you're dealing with all this and 'the supermarket experience'. Will keep fingers and toes crossed that it's as painless as possible for you both.

Oh Jimjams, sorry to hear this, I hope it all settles down soon. Big hugs X

Peace........

for 5 minutes.

DAd arrived and after 10 minutes said "god has he been like this all morning" then offered to look after ds2 whilst doing the drilling so I could just take ds1 to the supermarket. As I only had him I could go to Sainsburys- and he screamed for the first half of the shop- without stopping. Gave the post -xmas shopopers something to stare at- and I have to say lots of them took the opportunity to indulge in a bit of gawping. other mothers with children being the worst offenders.

Anyway we reached the hoover section- and the hoover he always looks at had gone! I thought that would signal meltdown but it actually stunned him into silence! He was then overjoyed to find a row of 5 hoovers and was happy the rest of the shop.

Had a very friendly checkout lady. ALmost too much when she started going on about how the best bit of her xmas was a trip to the pantomine with her granddaughter (you know what its like when people start being nice). luckily she didn;t suggest I take ds1 as I think I would have ended up sobbing at the till.

Thanks for barabara breads page twiglett. Have you ever spoken to her? You need a spare afternoon Slightly obsessed with gf cooking (but very lovely it has to be said)

ooh what's the home like?

Bit more peaceful now. My mum rang earlier, heard all the screaming and invited me over to give the boys tea and a bath at their house. So we're off there now. Thank goodness for my mother. She is a star.

Hopefully this stuff will work its way out of his sytstem soon.

Hugs to all of you, and belated happy bithday! I hope that thing get back to usual soon.

Jimjams · 30/12/2003 19:32

phew - back with a much happier ds1- Much happier after doing a massive poo (won't give the details).

He's now happily playing a game where he puts a hoover piece in the tumble drier, turns it on and listens to it clonk around a couple of times before removing it. Before having children I never thought I'd allow my kids to do that sort of stuff. Amybe I wouldn't if he wasn't autistic!

Jimjams, is the poo related to you or ds ?

Jimjams · 30/12/2003 20:10

splutter....... tea on the keyboard now! DS1. His moods are governed by poos at the moment. The sooner we get a nutri-link appointment the better......
