mmrs booster did your dd have it?

Don't want this to turn into an MMR debate as think thats been done enough. Just curious to hear from mums of girls as to whether they gave their dd the mmr booster and if not did you give rubella and measles seperately? All three seperately? Or choose to wait until they are older?

Fwiw I gave dd1 all jabs and just considering my options with dd2 and would like to hear what others have chosen.
Many thanks

My DD had them all at once and showed no ill effects at all :)

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/09/2012 09:34

No. I didn't give my dd any of them. Probably will do at some point though. Probably even the MMR.

Ineedalife · 18/09/2012 09:38

My Dd3 has had measles and rubella as 2 seperate jabs, was going to give mumps later but apparently the private Dr cant buy it anymore so I guess she will have to go unprotectedSad

silverfrog · 18/09/2012 10:59

dd1 had initial, but that was the last jab she had, at about 20 months old.

dd2 hasn't had it at all. we will check her immunity to rubella when older, and make further decisions then. she has had mumps, so no worries about finding the single jab for that.

Thanks guys I'm decided I'm not keen on her having it. However, unsure as to whether to give her rubella and measles as two seperates this/next year or wait til she's a bit older and able to firstly tolerate the needle a bit better. On the other hand there's the risk of her getting measles or catching and passing on rubella to a pregnant lady. How on earth do you decide?!

DD had the very 1st MMR but didn't have the 2nd one as the GP said it was a 'massive attack' on her immune system and the 2nd jab is just to catch the 5% who didn't get immunity the 1st time around (and not all of those get it the 2nd time either).

Chundle · 18/09/2012 12:59

Thank you big blue that's interesting that's its just to catch the 5% without immunity thanks very much.I may wait until she's older

Both my dc have had the lot.

bialystockandbloom · 18/09/2012 18:36

Yes she has had both first one and booster - but both were at least a year later than they were supposed to be for obvious reasons

Chundle · 18/09/2012 19:46

Thanks bad and bialy nice to hear everyone's views

FWIW it's older ds who has ASD - he had both MMRs too, though I delayed the second for a long time too.

Vagaceratops · 18/09/2012 19:52

No.

Not because of any fear of the MMR (he has had that) but he reacts so badly to going to the GP I know they would not be able to do it. Last time we had to go over his infected eczema he threw himself into the wall so hard he nearly knocked himself out

:(

"chundle", just as a matter of interest the Gp who did Dd3's seperate jabs used a really tiny needle much smaller than I had seen before and he did the jab in the top of her leg just under the knicker/nappy line.

She had no issues and didnt even squeak. At the booster a year later, she was 4 by this time she said Ow that man spiked me!! but again no reaction or tears.

I felt the whole process was less traumatic TBH.

Chundle · 19/09/2012 06:17

Hi ineeda. When I took my dd1 for hers few years back they used tiny needles as well. On talking about this recently to the nurse when I had a blood test she said they're not doing tiny needles anymore as it costs a lot on the nhs!!!

My dd1 didn't squeak at all either for any of hers. Dd2 hit the roof for her jabs screamed for over an hour
