You won't believe this -regarding DLA!

Hi
I've been posting this weekend, freaking out about DD1's DLA renewal.
I posted it on September 8th and got a letter last Friday to say it was received on the 10th and would take up to 8 weeks.

Well...postman just came with a brown letter.
It has been renewed at the same rate (HRC, LRM) for 5 years!

The letter was dated Sept 12th, so it took 2 days to assess and to make a decision.
Is this a record?!

I am still shaking-I've barely slept since I sent the forms off. As so many of you will understand, losing it doesn't just mean a loss of the DLA, but means losing CA and TCs.
We can't work full time because nobody else can look after DD and we now HE her, so it really helps.

There is always that bittersweet feeling though, isn't there? Sadness that DD qualifies at all.

They said the assessed it using information provided on the form and medical (dx) reports I sent.
Am off for a coffee and a biscuit Smile

Thank you Smile
This board is lovely; I really appreciate how everyone is genuinely pleased when others get some good news. We spend so much time dealing with the rubbish stuff, don't we?

Very pleased for you and you didn't have to wait too long Smile

Don't want to piss on your parade but what will happen to CA, CTC, DLA (PIP) when universal credit is rolled out. (sorry should have started new thread)

Not sure DD27 had a letter last month saying she had DLA MCR/LMR indefinately which we know is untrue due to PIP being introduced. Ironically she has been told to look for work Downs.severe heart defect, asthma I have appealed!

Sorry OP for stealing your thunder

MsNobodyIsOrangeAgain · 17/09/2012 15:53

OP...it is a bittersweet victory for sure. I nearly posted on your previous thread this morning.

Thanks for the update.

2old were you referring to DD2 7 years old, or DD of 27 years old? Just wondered before I launch into a PIP debate.

2old2beamum · 17/09/2012 16:07

OOPS DD2 aged 27. I don't think even ATOS would make a 7 year old work or would they?

MsNobodyIsOrangeAgain · 17/09/2012 16:13

Sorry, after posting I think I realised what you meant. My mistake.

As it is, my thoughts on PIP are not worth voicing so I'll bow out. Good luck to you and your DD.

WRT Universal Credit, don't worry-I had thought about it but am trying to block it out atm - am still recovering from the trauma of filling out the renewal form Grin

ovenchips · 17/09/2012 22:17

SiblingRivalry Hurrah that is really good news! And what a weight off your shoulders.

And I know that bittersweet feeling only too well. It brings all your darling child's difficulties home to you again, as if you needed reminding, and it hurts anew.

But tis done, you've got what your child is entitled to, so well done. And you have a nice stretch ahead of you of not having to think about DLA.

GoldPedanticPanda · 17/09/2012 22:21

Yay, what a relief that must be!

siblingrivalry · 17/09/2012 22:34

I'm still in shock, I think. Barely slept last night, running through all the 'what ifs?' in my mind.

As a celebration, I'm just about to order DD a couple of dresses online. Her sensory issues mean that clothes are a huge problem and we have an awful time finding anything she will agree to wear.
I found some perfect (but very expensive) dresses a few weeks ago, but wanted to keep her DLA in reserve in case we were knocked back.

Thanks for all the good wishes- I will be keeping my fingers crossed that everyone else who is waiting for a response gets what they need.
I'm so looking forward to a decent night's sleep Smile

That's amazingly fast!

Gottalovecosta · 17/09/2012 23:44

Oh wow, we've been waiting 8 weeks!!
So pleased yours was so quick, I can totally relate as I've been freaking out too, keep telling myself when he got his award (MRC/LRM) we had no evidence to send off, but now we've got reams of evidence!!

mymatemax · 17/09/2012 23:45

FANTASTIC NEWS!! This makes me feel a little more positive about ds2's DLA his is due for renewal in Feb. It will be the third time & he currently gets HR mobility & care.
Maybe i should start running a sweepstake... how long it will take & what will be awarded??

cornzy · 18/09/2012 07:15

I've been waiting 8 weeks as well costa.

siblingrivalry · 18/09/2012 07:58

Those of you who have been waiting ages, just to say that our first claim took 11 weeks and the second took just over 5.
The waiting is so stressful-hope you all hear soon.
