Ds is crawling, at least commando stylee. Yes, Ds my newborn.

It's funny. It makes me proud. But, my GOD does it make me worry!

DS1 and DS3 could both roll onto their sides as newborns but it wore off after a few weeks. The were both scarily early walkers though.

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/09/2012 19:58

He'll be 13 weeks tomorrow. Rolling around all over the place all day, and just now started scaling the floor moving forward. He's now got hold of makapaka's leg and is trying to get some milk out of it.

Blimey! Wonder what it means? Maybe just good motor skills? Sad that anything 'different' makes us worry, even when it's something positive.

LostInWales · 13/09/2012 20:09

Oh 13 weeks, I think DS1 was at least rolling to get things by this point and managing to get up on his cute little arms to drag along a bit. It was a long, long time ago but he was mobile really early. Walking with one of those 'A' frame v tech thingies at about 8 months and independently at 9 months. He is super intelligent, I'm sure this is all connected Wink I would worry if I were you, you're going to need eyes in the back of your head Grin. I would recommend investing in some sort of gate device to keep him in a safe area and possibly reins in the near future (yes, I know this is deeply unpopular with some but I stand by my sons freedom not to run out under cars). Mobility doesn't seem to come with any ability to recognise danger. I had better not mention that we had a 'cage' for DS1 or I will be linched

babiki · 13/09/2012 20:10

Great :) my friend's dd did this at same age and walked perfectly at 7 months... If I didn't see it for myself, I wouldn't have believed it ;)

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/09/2012 20:12

It's super funny to see, but we always though Ds1 was a fast developer and independent with an enquiring engineer mind. Moderate-severe ASD is what it was and a determination to escape.

Ah but now I am worrying that DD2 ISN'T crawling!! Wink

Tbh I think I will worry whatever with DD2 knowing what I now know. Only today I thought oh no she actually has DD1s genetic condition, they have missed it just beecause she was unusually sleepy. But otoh I am less worried because it is less the big unknown.

Been reading DD1s baby book to her and I am shocked at how well she slept! She was almost sleeping through by this point! So they are definately different.

See my DS2 was very slow to get mobile, was still sitting using a bumbo at the age DS1 was walking. DS1 is hopelessly uncoordinated and DS2 is as sporty as a small boy can be. The more I see of children the more confused I get.

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/09/2012 20:43

Ah used2, my dd was a VERY slow crawler/walker. Turns out her emotional intelligence was her 'thing' and her management skills. She coukd get her needs met without ever having to move - lol.

Same is true at just turned 4.

auntevil · 13/09/2012 20:50

Apparently I could talk before I could walk, but then if you have an older brother who is so stupidly compliant to get you everything you want, why walk? So, be scared, be very scared. That wonderful feeling of placing a child down and knowing that he or she will still be in the same place when you return has gone. Blink and you'll be sitting there looking at the clock, wondering what time he'll be in! Wink

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/09/2012 20:53

Lol! Tbh I'm wondering where these 3 months have gone. What about you used2?

OP posts:
tabulahrasa · 13/09/2012 21:11

Well I answered your other thread, but DD was 4 months and she could get across the living room along the hall and into the kitchen using just her arms and was crawling using her legs too by 5 months.

She's NT and fairly average at 12.

StarlightMcKenzie · 13/09/2012 21:14

Thanks tabulah. I'm never gonna stop worrying about him I'm sure. Nor stop being proud hopefully.

It's just a little bit 'odd' and I'm just exhausted by the thought of what that coukd mean AND, it sure is funny to see! Grin

tabulahrasa · 13/09/2012 21:35

DD has never had any developmental issues, her speech is fine (DS's never will be completely) she learned to tie her shoelaces years before DS did, she has a large group of friends, does fine at school and still sometimes I panic in case there's something I've missed, lol

used2bthin · 14/09/2012 10:32

Lol star, I am hoping DD2 is going to be quite laid back! I can hope!! It really has just flown by for me too. 3 months! I remember typing from my hospital bed while I was being induced and seeing you'd had your baby, seems about fa week ago.

KOKOagainandagain · 14/09/2012 11:04

DS2 crawled commando style at the same age - I was shocked and found it almost painful to watch - he reminded me of Arnie as The Terminator because he had the same determination and used to drag his (at that time non-functioning) legs behind him. Grin 'Normal' freaks me out too - I am not used to it.

KOKOagainandagain · 14/09/2012 11:17

star have just reread the thread - what are you concerned that this may be indicative of? I don't know that DS2 is NT but I am burying my head in the sand and pretending that he is because I'm guiltly prioritising - I am in the middle of statementing/ind ss battle re DS1 and DS2 is totally different from DS1 (disruptive, no SpLD, speech delay so school actively pursuing SALT, OT, Comm Paed involvement). DS1 was/is extremely passive and missed the crawling stage so I was pleased (if shocked) by DS2's iron will and determination and independence. I am now thinking neither of my boys are NT. Confused

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 11:55

That's how Toby was star.
Hard to not worry isnt it....
He also walked at 10 months and hasn't stopped since :)

ouryve · 14/09/2012 11:59

DS1 did this - mobile at 4.5 months.

Be very afraid!

TheLightPassenger · 14/09/2012 15:49

my DS's physical development was completely screwy - rolling forwards and backwards by 6 weeks, despite poor head control till 4 months, babbling at 5 months but severe language delay at 3, sitting/crawling/walking on the late end of normal. Hopefully you will get lots of reassuring answers on your other thread about early crawlers

myBOYSareBONKERS · 14/09/2012 20:29

I lost DS2 once at this age Blush .

He was on the floor under his play gym whilst I was busy drinking tea and eating cake researching important things on the computer. I looked down.... and he was gone!! It was one of those surreal moments when you start questioning yourself whether he had been really there or not.

He had wriggled on his back out of the lounge and into the hall.

He is NT

coff33pot · 14/09/2012 21:37

Eldest dd bum shuffled her way round the house till 24 mths but talked at 6mths. Middle dd walked at 10 mths and talked sentence at 12mths both classes as NT. DS was using words and sentence at 9 mths and walking steady at 12.

What did they all have in common?...............

The video player. They all worked out toast and crumpets fit in it nicely Grin
