Just been on the Caitlin Moran live web chat.
I asked her if she regretted the "retard" comments in her last book.
She did reply and apologised but then another poster chimed in with "aren't you fed up of talking about the retard thing?" or some such comment...
Sigh.
Very very depressed that a) she wrote it at all, b) it got though the editorial process and c) even though to me as a parent of a child with sen it's very offensive, I should shut up because it's boring now?
Her replies to the over questions were a bit vacuous too IMO.

Her excuse?
She was 13 when she wrote it.
Although I dont remember the book reading that way...the exact quote is:
"I had all the joyful ebullience of a retard"
(sorry)

i agree, the whole 'oops, silly me' excuse is used far too often and worse, accepted by MS society

Ah.
Ds1 likes to pretend he is a shire horse.
I didn't mind most of the time but at 6am it can be a tad wearing.
Do you like choc hob nobs?
