Just got a reply from council regarding the request to assess and realised never saw a statement and not really sure how to fill in the forms they sent... Did you do it all via your own research or got some help? I was thinking of asking Parent partnership for help, but then they are funded by the concil..or Families in Focus? They helped with the dla..

Thank you, yes, I know that, but I mean what support, what everything is ok to ask for- I mean he won't get what he really needs ( as his lovely private tutor at the moment).. So what's 'on offer'? He is almost 3 and started preschool, significant gdd in all areas, not Asd. So I should ask for 1-1 at all times, plus Salt plus Ot? We are in Essex..

I think that ACE have a model statement and advice here

This really helped us know how a statement should look as opposed to what the LA will inevitably try and palm you off with

Don't forget to include any specific training you think the 1:1 will need as the NVQ doesn't cover very much in regards to SN's.
Also if delayed and you want direct SALT include then state how much is needed e.g 1 hours session per week, otherwise they'll come in once a term for an observation & review. The time spent teaching yourself and the 1:1 to help with salt related stuff should also be specified (these people have such massive case loads that unless you spell it out you won't get it).
Rinse & repeat for OT, or music therapy, or whatever it is you want.
Don't forget any physical aids your child might need, such as a wobble cushion, or a rail on the toilet, ear defenders (lap tops etc are probably more for older kids but hopefully you get what I mean)
If your child needs extra help with self-care such as dressing, eating, toileting etc, etc then spell it out to avoid grief later

Back it up with professional evidence where possible.
