I am fighting for LEA funding of independent specialist schooling and have built as strong as possible a case. Anyway it might all be pissing in the wind as the evaluation is not going well for DS
. The staff at the school are fantastic, don't hide things from me, actually listen to me and immediately modifiy action accordingly. I am not used to this. But it was awful to hear that he had had a wobble at the end of school, had become tearful and had to be removed from prep and that they expected another wobble at bedtime. Sure enough at bed time staff had to put him on the phone to beg and plead to come home, he said that he felt really sick, if dad couldn't come that night, could he get up early and pick him up first thing in the morning.
Managed to talk him down after about half an hour. If he were 'rescued' I would have no chance of getting him back into any school and would be forced down the HE route. Staff said he seemed OK this morning. Now I am thinking that unless he feels it gets better fast he will point-blank refuse to go
.
If the boarding is too much for him I am prepared to move the family to allow him to be a day pupil but I am not sure how this would work with the new LEA. Has anyone done this?
