Had a major wobble last night :(

DS stayed at his aunties house on Friday night, we were both working early on Saturday so SIL offered to have the boys which was great as they love going there and get totally spoilt.

It was great for me cos I had no one at home for almost 24 hours, was able to go out on Friday evening and have dinner with friends and know they were safe.

So by the time I finished work on Saturday I was looking forward to seeing them.

Got home and DS was particularly "in my face", climbing on me, not paying attention to what was being said and generally quite annoying. He started saying things like "you are a piece of poo" which I have no idea where he picked it up but can see that evolving into more as he gets older which I'm terrified about.
I caught him trying to write his name on his DS and it was badly misspelt. He is 6, they won't check for dyslexia yet :(

I saw a friend walking hand in hand with her 6 year old today and he was walking normally whereas I'd be struggling to keep him walking straight and stopping him from falling on the floor because he doesn't want to walk anymore.

When I'd finally got him to stay in bed I just broke down in tears just knowing how much harder this is going to get as he gets older and becomes noticeably different :(

Also, am so so worried about him going back to school, his new teacher doesn't know what he is like, nor does his TA. I'm just worried they will think he is just another naughty child :(

If he already has a dx, then they won't. If he doesn't, get another referral to comm paed and request assessment. Info will be shared from last year's teacher, and he will have the same senco. Any IEPs etc will be on file.

Being horrendously practical as a distraction is quite productive. Once they are back at school you will have a chance to get your thoughts in order. The hols are so long that they magnify everything.

He is not dx'd yet, or statemented even. We have a paed appointment on the 12th September. I just hope they see what we see.
He was supposed to have extra settling in time with his new teacher but she was off sick at the end of term so the whole class missed out on meeting her let alone him having extra sessions.

All fine. The fact he was supposed to have extra settling time means she knows he's not just a naughty boy, and obv the senco will be aware.

Hope the paed appt goes well. Sounds like perfect timing to arrange an appt with teacher and senco once you get some paed feedback, and then the teacher can fill you in on settling etc. good time to discuss IEPs.

It's always a bit depressing when you make comparisons, but all kids are different, even the nt ones.

I can't get my 10.5 yo to walk in the street. I'm kinda over it, but I do wonder what other folk make of him.
