speech delay ds picking up swear words!

That's it really! My DS3 (age 3) has been listening to his older brother(age 6) who has been using swear words. We've told (and keep telling him off) the older one off, but today in the bath, ds3 pointed to his bottom and said in a very clear voice "ass-hole".
Normally it takes him a few goes to pick up a new word... But swearing, he picks up at lightning speed! Grin

I want to encourage his speaking, but want to discourage the swear words.
Any ideas?

Get a grip of his brother? Grin

Actually, use his bro to teach him the good stuff. He's obv got the knack and ds2 obv picks it up from him. Grin

I wouldn't worry too much, (on either count) somehow ds1 learnt the term 'goolies' before he was two. The fact that ds2 is using language in context and understanding it is a really good sign. Grin

I'm sure you didn't know whether to clap and hooray, or recoil in horror. Grin

I spy a developmental surge, anyway. Grin

Ds3, sorry!

My jaw did hit the floor, and I think he knew he shouldn't of said it because he had a grin on his face. When it came to praise, I sorta let that one go.

He knows words, understands them, just has difficulty getting them out and putting them into sentances. One of his labels is "selective mutism", the other is "speech and language disorder"

He's starting a speech and language nursery placement soon, so the developmental surge (I didn't think of that!) will be a much welcome thing. I just had visions of 8 kids coming home from the nursery profaning!

I'll try and bribe persuade his brothers to have more conversations with him and include him more in their games.
