Concerned about Flying

We are going on a very long journey next year (7 hour flight then 12 hour flight) and my lovely Starling (who will be 7 then) has ADHD and Aspergers. Now while he is medicated it shouldnt be too bad and he will behave like any pretty normal child who gets bored etc but before and after...oh dear its a nightmare!

The last time we went on a very long flight (12 hours) he was a long younger (4) and we didnt have a dx or medication etc but omg it was awful...he spent half the flight screaming his head off and clawing at our faces due to the restriction of movement etc.

I know DH and I have to chill a bit and let him roam a little bit (he cant go far on a plane lol) but I am very concerned not just about him but us too (we find it very stressful which usually results in us arguing) but also for the other passengers around us ... the noise will stop yes but we literally can do not a lot about him messing with the seat in front or the tray up and down up and down etc and of course there is the kicking of the seat in front.... Im dreading it.

We take along the usual stuff and have enough things to do for a whole nursery class lol (paper/pens/laptop/DS/DVDs etc etc) but still ....anyone got any suggestions about what to do and maybe where abouts to sit on the plane???

Am looking forward to this holiday soooo much but am very worried about the flight ...and its even longer on the way back lol.

Thanks

Star xx

Last time I flew with dd I say right at front so there was no one in front of us and also a bit more space for legs and moving around. I would also consider writing in advance requesting special assistance as this might mean faster boarding and generally less waiting around in noisy, hot lounges. We just took dd ASD on Eurostar and it was brilliant. We splashed out for premier class and she was able to plug DVD in so it lasted the whole 5 hours. There was also no requirement to wear seatbelt and she had loads of room.
