SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

I didn't win the rollover on Tuesday, but I won the dx bingo on Friday....

Yup, After his paed appointment for DS2 (9mo) we have suspected dx of,,

CP, GDD, SPD, ASD, Coloboma, Microcephaly and a few more they want to test for.
We really are screwed this time round.

But we have most things in place for him.

Physio for CP
OT for sensory issues
ABA for GDD, SPD, ASD
and the rest, well we will deal with it as it comes.

You know the funny thing is, our non verbal DS1 has just started speaking, its mostly echolalia, but hey its still words right. and then we get hit by this the same week. Sometimes I wonder if someone somewhere has it in for us..
Anyhow just wanted to thank you all for your support, we were devastated when DS1 was dx'ed last year but this time it feels different, slightly surreal but at least we are prepared.

Wish me luck, I think we are going to need it.

Well you've got a greedy boy there, haven't you? All those dx at 9 months!!

I'm sorry you're having to do it all again, but I'm so glad he's got an on-the-ball Mum like you Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 20/08/2012 10:31

Blimey, Dev and Mrs Dev. That's a pretty comprehensive list of DXs. Sad ((((hugs)))) to you both. There's always someone here who can offer support, experience and advice and just handholding if needed. X

IndigoBell · 20/08/2012 10:31

Wow! That's one hell of dx for a 9 month old.

Sending you hugs.

dev9aug · 20/08/2012 12:14

Lougle He definitely has a mum who is on the ball but that would not be me iykwim Grin and before anybody else points out like last time, I am not a lesbian either.Grin

Thanks Ellen and Indigo his dx were a bit of surprise but his difficulties were not. He has never been a normal baby. To be honest, we are worried but not too upset as thanks to this place, there is a lot of support in place for him both from NHS and private so I guess he will do just fine and if not, we have done the absolute best we can and get on with life.

Plus as I mentioned that DS1 is finally saying words so we have seen first hand what early intervention can do and we are hopeful that his difficulties can be overcome as well with intense work which is already in place for him now.

Sounds like both his parents and his health team are on the ball. It must be very hard for you all. Well done at getting so much recognised in placeto give give support so early! Best wishes for you all.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 20/08/2012 12:32

That's a lot to take in even if it wasn't wholly unexpected. Best wishes for the road ahead.

Lougle · 20/08/2012 14:25

I ujnderstand you, dev Grin sorry for my assumption.

coff33pot · 20/08/2012 14:31

Oh my gosh that is a shopping list for a little one!

He is a lucky lad to have such well prepared parents that has already got the ball rolling :)

And a big pat on the back for your DS1 with his speaking! That is wonderful news x

ouryve · 20/08/2012 14:43

That's a lot of letters DS2 has after his name :/ (((hugs)))

As for your DS1, echolalia is good. Very good. He's learning the mechanics of speech and will hopefully begin to use those snippets as a gateway to communicating with you :)

Not that there's owt wrong with lesbians! I know two lovely little girls with SN adopted by two different lesbian couples and they are all great! Smile

dev9aug · 20/08/2012 23:38

Grin @ zzzzz's echolalic Ipad

Ellen agree, I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with lesbians either. Smile

Good luck, Dev9.

You must be reeling, but as you say, at least you are more prepared this time round.

They are lucky boys to have you and Mrs Dev as parents.
