Small Celebrations

Would anyone like to share any small victories or celebrations from today or recent times?

I'll start. Today, my toothbrush dodging ASD son brushed his teeth not very well on his own, without asking, for the first time ever.

I literally punched the air! Grin

DD (also ASD) will eat popcorn!

she's all but given up on everything else, but we won't talk about that

A magician asked DS what was in his hand. You and I would have said 'nothing'. DS replied 'bones, blood and muscle'.

Whilst this is funny it was just amazing that DS was paying attention in a group situation!

Ds has decided to completely blank the disruption and mess of the workmen in the kitchen and bathroom and that refusal to acknowledge is infinitely better than the alternative Grin
Dd has obviously been paying attention at school, it's nice to know that she understands floating and sinking maybe now I'll teach her not to shout at the top of her voice "Don't let the fat ones on the boat it will sink!" Grin

Starlight I can relate to that one. Grin. Taking things literally is my DS1s favourite thing to do.

insanity Priceless. Just priceless. Grin

Ds1 & DS2 watched a film together today! Ok DS2 had a few mini upsets during it, DS 1 lost interest a couple of times but DS1 put his laptop away, we all sat together, the boys shared a blanket on the settee, I am happy! :)

My DSs missed my DD today while she was out with a friend. She has played nicely with them since she got back. DSs are both SN, she is not. She has the patience of a saint sometimes.

DH gave DS a consequence today and when DS said "why?" DH said because for everything we do wrong in life there is always a price to pay and we must accept the consequence (bit to deep for DS but hey).

Anyhooo DS disapeared to his room for half hour then came down out of the blue with his sweet jar penny stash and said "ok Dad how much to I have to pay?" :)

The celebration is that DS went away and thought about what DH had said and accepted that they was a consequence even though he took it in a different context :)

That is a lovely story coff and just goes to show how our DCs learn, even with their difficulties.

I have learnt a lot about myself since having SN children.

DS1 non verbal has finally started speaking.. His first words are twinkle twinkle... I have been singing this to him for the last 3.5 years. Did he learn it from me... Hell no... He decided to copy this....

Well you got to give him credit for good taste...

insanityscratching · 20/08/2012 11:13
