Earplugs for 12yr old to help with noise

I have tried foam ones and wax ones neither stay in his ears well and if we go away in hotel he cant sleep if there is any noise. Anyone have any that fit for this age please?

My ds is 11 and he uses the boots wax ones. He only uses half of one in each year but they seem to stay in all night. He used to only use them on windy nights but now uses them every night

Each "ear" not "year"

the wax ones should stay in if you squidge them really well until they're very soft, roll them into a narrow shape & then press in hard

I have grown-up sized ears, & half of a Boots one fits in my ear & cuts out noise brilliantly, providing it's properly wedged - if there's any gap then noise will still get past

when they're in properly it's like being underwater, does he know what that's like?

Thanks for the advice.
I have got some wax ones left so I will try using half so they should last twice as long.
Do you ever reuse them or is that a big no no?
It says on pack single use only.
He loves the underwater feeling in fact even though he can swim he spends most of his time underwater anyway!

Try the silicon ones - I prefer them to the wax ones - they are easier to get a good fit in the ear and so block sound more effectively. You can get them in Boots - they do their own brand or Biocare ones. I've just ordered some online. They cost £4.49 (Boots) or £4.99 (Biocare) for 3 pairs - but they are re-usable. And I read the reviews and some say that 'half' an earplug at a time is effective.

oh good, flowwithit - then he should recognise when they're properly in Smile

I do reuse them, but I am tight Blush - as long as they still look pink & feel soft they are fine IME

As an alternative, could you ask if the hotel has a room fan you could use? White noise is pretty effective at cutting out external noises without being a disturbance itself

I've never tried the silicone ones, pannetone; I'll have a look for them next time I need some. They do say 'suitable for children over 15 years' though; there isn't an age suggestion on the wax ones
