Oso, lovely to hear some good news. Smile

Congratulations on your Graduation Lollipop! Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/07/2012 20:20

Too many posts to catch up with.

No 10 for Lisa caught my eye. Shame you didn't manage to stick one on DC. Grin

Hi osospecial! Nice to see you on a Friday.

I've just got back from taking DS3 to a cub camp. Forecast is very, very wet. In fact it's raining now. DS3's school did a fantastic production of 'We Will Rock You' this week. Still humming Queen songs.

Didn't get a job this week, but that's ok, I'll find one at some point. No point worrying again now until September, so the pressure is off for a while. Thanks for the support, everyone. Smile

LollipopViolet · 13/07/2012 20:40

Aaaand I've just listened to Green Day's "Time of Your Life". I'm now close to tears because it's hit me that today I said goodbye to some awesome people :(

NoHaudinMaWheest · 13/07/2012 20:50

Hi to all.
Lollipop congratulations on your graduation and hope the job works out.
Attila congratulations to your Ds. Silver cup Smile
Moose sorry you are still struggling health wise. Good that you seem to have put the wind up the LA. I hope the mediation works and that the school is as good as you hope. From your posts it seems that your Ds is a bit like mine in some ways and ASD specific provision just wouldn't suit him. I have realised that when looking for post-16 placement.

Only 1 more week of term to go but it doesn't feel like winding down at all. Ds had an EP assessment this week which formally confirmed his dyslexic issues. It hasn't mattered at this school that he hasn't had a formal label as they have provided support anyway, but we need it for A level placement/support. Just a shame that it has taken from us flagging the problems in Reception to end of yr 10 to get the formal acknowledgement.
Also saw his English teacher which was quite disheartening. I knew he was struggling in English but didn't realise how badly. He is marginal for getting a C.
Oh and Dd has her ballet exam on Sunday. She is as cool as a cucumber even though she fell over doing a pirouette in class today!

bigbaps · 13/07/2012 20:57

Evening all!
Glad to hear most of you have had a good week. We got ds's school report - 'although his talents are recognised this report highlights where improvements need to be made. His disappointing behaviour has let him down and affected his ability to focus on the tasks in hand. I hope he will take on board the good advice offered and respond positively next year'. Some people just do not understand special needs do they?
As a positive I confronted them about an illegal practice they were doing and was advised that the council told them to Hmm. I then called the council and you can guess what they said Smile. Will be spending the weekend compiling a complaint letter to various places.

starfish71 · 13/07/2012 21:07

Congratulations lollipop!

Thanks for that link moose DS hadn't seen that. Has got two or three C+ books, wants me to learn now too!

signandsmile · 13/07/2012 21:22

Hi all, wow lisa. Grin mixed week here at chez sign, ds distraught at concert, and soooo tired, really away with the fairies, but he has a wobbly tooth, and is not fussed about it all Shock Hmm Grin

one more week of school... two more weeks of student visits for me, then everthing quietens down.. (well thats the plan... Hmm)

magso · 13/07/2012 21:45

Hi All!
Most people seem to have had relatively good weeks in the run down to summer despite the tiredness, statement reviews, concerts, sports days, reports and other changes.
Congratulations to Lollipop, the silver cup for Atilla junior and to those who have made progress despite everything (Imogen, Moose, Bigbaps, NoHaudlin, starfish) Sorry you did not get the job Ellen, better luck next term.
Not too bad a week here although everyone in our family seems worn out. Ds is going to an activity centre for 2 days next week (with school) including a night camping so I too am hoping for the rain to let up! What will I do with a night off I wonder ( sleep?)
Take care all.

Ineedalife · 13/07/2012 21:50

Hi all, not really joining in tonight am on my jollies in soggy devon!! We are on a fantastic campsite with loads for the Dd's to do. But yesterday was a bit grusome, our pitch turned into glastonburyGrin

Dd3 is having a great time lots of frerdom and water to play in.

Have a good weekend everyoneSmile

moosemama · 13/07/2012 21:52

I think they are promising an improvement in the weather aren't they magso? Hopefully your ds will have a nice dry camping trip and definitely us the time to sleeeeep!

I have been sleeping a lot of the time myself this week. Thank heavens for my Mum, who refused to accept my telling her I was fine, came round and let herself in only to take one look at me and take over. I didn't realise how much I was holding on until I didn't have to do it anymore. Unfortunately, as soon as I let go I quickly got worse and worse. Hmm Still, two days of resting and sleep later and I am at least upright, having managed a slow walk to the school this afternoon to meet with ds1's next-year's teacher about the week long outward bound trip they are going on in the second week of term.

Not quite sure how I got through it really, but think I made all the important points and handed over an impressive stack of notes to be read by the lead teachers and circulated to all the staff accompanying the trip. Poor teacher looked a bit bemused by the level of support ds needs away from the daily routine of school life, she's probably wondering what joys next year has to bring for her teaching him every day! Grin

moosemama · 13/07/2012 21:53

Oo Ineed, you are a brave and hardened camper. Hope you all manage to have a good holiday in spite of the weather.

magso · 13/07/2012 22:02

Oh Moose I hope the rest works some magic for you!

moosemama · 13/07/2012 22:16

Thanks x

Ineedalife · 13/07/2012 22:24

Thanx moose I actually love hardcore camping and so does Dd3 although i need a clean looSmile.

Magso, i have heard the weather is going to be ok over the weekend too. Hope your ds enjoys his camp.

We are having big trouble with squirrels!! The little blighters have chewed through 2 cool bags and a gas bottle pipe in one night!!. NightmareGrin

ouryve · 13/07/2012 22:32

Wow! Some good news and at least promising news, this week. And congratulations, lollipop!

Bit of an uppy downy week for us. I escaped, by myself, for a whole day, on Sunday. Up into Northumberland with some knitting friends. The sun even came out!

DH had terrible gut rot at the weekend, though, so we started it with him off work. DS1 had a terrible day at school, that day and completely lost his rag. End of term shite. He's coped a bit better since then, but he's making up for it in the evenings Shock

NoHaudinMaWheest · 13/07/2012 22:55

Moose thank goodness for your mum. Try not to do what I know I do and overdo it the minute you feel a bit better. But I know its hard not to.

moosemama · 13/07/2012 23:04

Shock at squirrels with a penchant for camping equipment Ineed!

Good to hear you managed to get some time to yourself this week ouryve. Hope your d is better now.

NoHaudin, I am trying my best, but there's so much to do and I get so frustrated at not being able to do it. Blush

How are you doing? Hope you are taking your own advice.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 13/07/2012 23:41

Not really. My advice was based on bitter experience. I have been having some odd symptoms not my usual ME though I did have something similar 3 yrs ago after a hysterectomy. The neurologist then thought it might be the ME but admitted he didn't know. I tried to ignore them this time for a while but eventually went to GP and now have a neurology appointment for September. Meanwhile I am trying not to think about it too much and definitely not googling!

FallenCaryatid · 14/07/2012 00:40

Mine is still innocent in the ways and wiles of women.
He went to the cinema yesterday evening, phoned me up to tell me after he'd been out for the day.
Today he was telling me about it, he went with X and Y and Z. All girls incidently.
Z was very sleepy and fell asleep on him in the cinema. What sort of minx is very sleepy at 6.30pm? To the point where she's snuggled up on his manly shoulder?
DS enjoyed the film, but his arm went to sleep which was a bit annoying.
They had a tak- away, and he shared with Y but he didn't like her trying to feed him bits because he just wanted to eat.
Then they all caught the train home and he walked Z home because she lived in the opposite direction to her friends. Then he came home.
He's so oblivious, it's astonishing.

moosemama · 14/07/2012 10:53

NoHaudin, that's similar to what happened to me. Twenty years of believing I had ME, only to find out it wasn't that after all.

Unfortunately, because I managed my 'ME' myself after the first couple of episodes, there isn't enough 'clinical' evidence for a full dx. So, now it's a waiting game - where basically they wait for me to develop what they call 'serious neurological symptoms' so that they can apply the full dx. No matter how bad I've been feeling and how horrible the symptoms, unfortunately they aren't 'bad enough' for a dx, despite being archetypal.

I should have received a neuro appointment for this month, but none has shown up - typical, as if it had the neuro would actually have seen me during a relapse for the first time ever. Bit odd really, as MIL is under the same neuro, had her last 6 month appointment a week after me and she received her letter for the next appointment over a week ago now. I should probably call and check what's happening, as I've had appointment letters arrive after the actual appointment in the past. Hmm

moosemama · 14/07/2012 10:55

Fallen Grin at your ds. Poor girls sound like they were trying sooo hard as well! Grin

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 14/07/2012 11:59

Hi all, sorry I missed you last night. Dropped my iPhone down the loo on Sunday (fingers crossed they can fix it) and I though dd had stashed my iPad somewhere last night but it turned up in my room this morning Blush in my defence i couldn't look there as dh was having a migraine. (feel a bit guilty about searching dd's bed now but I didn't wake her despite practically dismantling it! )

Good to catch up with all your news, don't have my phone to sort out out the right names for things but congrats on the visit to number 10 (Lisa?) congrats on graduating (lollipop) good news about the schools! And sorry to hear your health is rough moose and ?. Had my assessment for carpal tunnel surgery yesterday but still don't know if I want it.

And Glad. What a week! I haven't posted on your thread but I'm lurking and have my fingers well and truly crossed for you that DK will write something that will help you xx

And to the rest, sorry my memory is like a sieve.....

xx

NoHaudinMaWheest · 14/07/2012 15:51

Hi Lola. It is amazing how they can sleep like the dead sometimes and other times you can't get them to sleep at all. Re the carpal tunnel. I posted some experience in the parents with disabilities bit. Don't know if you saw it? (chat thread)

Moose how frustrating about the neuro appointment. Our experiences do sound a bit similar though my neuro symptoms aren't typical which is part of the problem.
