Have we just been set up to fail?

Today my ds application for an IPFA went to panel. We were awarded funding for seven units? They said they were not putting in any more as they want to be able to see the difficulties he has? Should have gone straight for a statement shouldn't I? Feel like I have failed already :(

What is IPFA?

TheLightPassenger · 12/07/2012 19:20

I guess that IPFA = Individual Pupil Funding Agreement, and will be an arrangement specific to one LEA. What does 7 units mean?

StarlightWithAsteroid · 12/07/2012 19:21

I suppose it depends what IPFA is, and the attitude of the school/LA really.

Statement offers legal protection of provision, but it isn't always necessary and sometimes the fight for it isn't worth the demise of relationships. But it really does depend.

What do these seven units do though? Do they set up turn-taking games with socially advanced peers, help him hold pencils in the correct grip?

And when you way 'we' were awarded funding. What are the 'you' part of 'we' planning to do with it?

The funding was for one to one. He has Asd and sli. I think in my county they split the school week into 12 units and the school have to provide the first five. I thought transition to YR was going so well Blush

Sorry IPFA is individual pupil funding agreement. "we don't do statements until secondary in our county for mainstream".

Not B and D county by any chance?

wasuup3000 · 13/07/2012 00:43

No just googled and that counties is called IPRA but its the same. Anyway they tell parents and paediatricians and anyone who will listen that they don't do statements anymore. However this is an illegall blanket policy which needs challenging. Apply yourself google IPSEA and have a look at their info.
