Aargh, not sure my interview went so well!

Got back from my job interview to support a child just about to start in reception with nearly a full statement. I would love the job and talked a good talk but I had a classroom session with 4 lively 5 year old who ran rings around me! They asked me how I though the session had gone and I had to say it started well but got a bit out of hand. Sad 2 other candidates already seen. Will find out by tomorrow. Please cross fingers and toes for me.

all crossed,

did they feed them all sugar before the session?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 12/07/2012 13:23

Grin It was the 3rd session with a candidate that morning and some of the children had played the same blinking game 3 times and were a bit, well, challenging...

Everything crossed. Just take comfort in the fact that as we all know, behaviour can be turned off and on - the other candidates may have had much worse!

good luck ellen Smile Makes you wonder what the selection criteria for the children was!

moosemama · 12/07/2012 14:29

Good luck Ellen, will keep everything crossed, but I am sure you handled it all well and are being too hard on yourself.

Remember to think positive. Thoughts become things and all that. Wink

Thanks guys. Feeling quite pessimistic, I'm afraid, or is that realistic? Smile It's the first interview for ages for which the outcome is actually quite important, so I think nerves got the better of me.

Also remember that you were selected for interview - many would have been discarded. I remember reading recently that there can be up to 90 applications for each TA job.
Also, its not just down to how well you dealt with situations that day, but on personality as well. They might choose someone who is realistic and honest over someone that tries to blag it. I know who I'd rather work with Smile

Having the same set of children with the same game three times is a ridiculous interview, job candidates at our place get a fresh unused set each time!
You have so much experience and knowledge, and you are a good communicator. They would be foolish to turn you down.

Oh dear, didn't get it. Sad HT was very nice, but one candidate had the best experience. Was glad to get an interview, but it's getting a bit late to get a job for Sept. I may have to stick with lunchtime supervision and claim carer's again for a while.

I wouldn't worry about the kids, they were volunteering to play the fun game, just that some enjoyed it so much they kept volunteering.

Sad Sorry you didn't get it Ellen.

Please don't lose heart though, the right job will come up at the right time.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 12/07/2012 20:03

Oh well, I'll get a bit more experience as a supply TA at DS's old early years SS, it'll give me more CV material.
