School reports.

I appreciate that school reports should be positive however some things in ds report are a bit too much imo.

ds reluctance to go school is worse on days he has PE, he often comes out of school in meltdown when he has had PE. When we play games as a family such as rounders he will invariably have a meltdown, no matter how hard we try to make it OK. He refuses point blank to go to any (free) after school clubs doing sports, games etc. However "he shows an enthusiasm for team sports and ball games"

His report lists things I know he cannot do independently but makes no mention of any support he has been given to achieve these things. In fact it mentions his independence.

There are lots of other stuff along the same lines. Funnily enough ds was given verbal dx after ADOS last week, reports were handed out on Mon so already prepared pre dx and today HT has spoken to me and they are interviewing for FT 121 next week to start Sep. (they were already holding interviews for one job but now there will be two).

I am just wondering if your school reports are so positive that you don't recognise half of what is in there.

I once had a teacher confess to me that she wrote that x should do well on the end of a report as she was in automatic report writing mode, after detailing his difficulties. it was the days of handwriting the damn things and she did not want to write it out again. I had x the following year. the parents mentioned it.

the reports should not contain any surprises. the teachers should have talked to you at parents evenings or called you in if ther is a problem. does not always happen though.
