my dd 5 in is sending me crazy she never stops, talking, shouting, telling what we should/ shouldn't be doing nasty most of time nothing works to calm her down or even the naughty step don't work we just get massive meltdowns she as had lots of medical problems since she was born, also as an hearing problem but teacher from deaf says not all we tell them are due to her hearing! we are waiting for an cognitive assessment and educational psych but think it will be sept now! ds 10 is AS but dd is so different to him , she is over sociable( so much would go with anyone) and as very good pretend play in fact all she plays is schools, hospitals, home life if you know what i mean? yes she as traits but don't we all? she still is in nappies, don't eat much by mouth as loads of sensory issues just don't know what to think? just know there is some thing wrong:(

My dd3 who has ASD plays schools and hospitals and she does from a distance seem to be playing imaginitively. when you actually get close up and listen she is just retelling real events that she has see in RL or on TV.

I am not saying your Dd has ASD but there are many things in your post which could be ASD related, there is a lot of crossover between ASD and ADHD and many children have both.

Girls with ASD present very differently to boys, they can be much more social and are often able to mask their problems at school.

Have you seen a developmental paed? Dd3 was diagnosed by CAMHS but this was mainly because there is a shortage of developmental paeds in my area.

I would recommend keeping a diary, make a note of all incidences of quirky/challenging behaviour, what caused it and how you dealt with it.

A friend of mine found it easier to access the CDC with her second child because her first already had a diagnosis of ASD.

Good luckSmile

Anytime there is a question the best bet is to get a referral from GP to see paed.

your GP told you that? Hmm You'll either need to go back to GP and insist on referral, or go to another GP. Another option is to try getting the referral to the paed through the school nurse (that's how we got ours - our GP was useless as well).

The main thing is to bring in a list of all the behaviours that concern you and INSIST on a referral.
