Hello it went really well, the consultant was good and told the EWO that their treatment of me could have been handled more sensitively, she also suggested that had the 1st EWO officer answered her phone and returned her messages back in Jan then this could all have been sorted out then.
She has told them that DS needs home tuition which they have agreed to do Smile

They tried to pin her down to a time when DS will be returning to school and she said "no, i wont be pinned down to a time particularly when you are dealing with a child so sensitive and anxious as DS is"

the only negative point was when the EWO,s asked "Does DS have ASD,"?
she said "no, he has shown too much imagination for that although he has a lot of ASD traits" Angry

But, thats for me to sort out in the future the main thing is for DS to be ok and to receive some education which looks like he will be doing.

Sounds like progress. I spoke to a good friend today whose DS has just started getting LEA provided home tuition. We didn't talk for long as she had to rush off but she did tell me that she can't go out when the tutor is there (she was supposed to be popping over and couldn't) and that its not nearly enough time. I need to give her a ring to rearrange so I'll ask some more questions.

jenk1 · 02/03/2006 20:24

yes, that was explained to me as well, the tutor will come to our house for the first few sessions then when he/she has built up a relationship with DS they will take him to a school(not his usual one) to have some interaction with some children and eventually look at getting him into school.

Hi, i was following your thread from when you first posted. im glad you got the home tuition and that someone has finally listened to you.Good luck and i hope your ds enjoys learning in an atmosphere where he feels safe and not anxious

rummum · 02/03/2006 22:12

Good news about the tutor...

JakB · 03/03/2006 14:54

Sounds good, although I know it's annoying about the 'autistic traits'. Tutor sounds good Grin

lars · 05/03/2006 16:12

Jenk1, I've been following your threads with much interest. Really pleased they have listened to you. This is a major step in the right direction.
I understand that a child can still be on the autistic spectrum. Once again he probalby falls into a grey area like my ds and I would wait until he has further assessments. The assessments are very interesting and will clarify alot to you. Keep us posted larsxx.,
