is there anything more soul-sappingly awful than school shoe shopping with a teenager?

Even more so when said teenager happens to have Aspergers and PMT.

I actually shed tears.

And have almost never been in more need of very strong alcohol.

Dare I mention haircuts at this moment? Grin
e-support winging its way to you. My DH is always working abroad somewhere, and I am left with no support and 3 DS - it's a struggle. When things go pear shaped and you're having one of those days that never seem to end, or get any better, it's truly low. Remember the lows so that you can truly appreciate the highs - and there are many highs - honestly.
so Wine Wine Wine Wine for you - that's 1 bottle a night, not 4 on the first night.

Love, have you been NCing again? My spreadsheet will never keep up. Wink I seem to have lost track of lots of people lately. Any sort of shopping with my DS takes a lot of building up to. In, check shoe shops for large queues in the children's section, often just go straight home again. Otherwise, buy first pair of shoes that fit, pay huge amount of money and make sure I have a treat ready.

Very similar story for haircuts, go to barber with no queue, make sure they have lollies and the patient barber who doesn't shout at DS for wriggling all the bloody time and rubbing his itchy face with really hairy hands and making it worse!

Did you say Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh?

NC Yup.

And DD2 is in the middle of a big project for school.

These never go well. She simply can't/won't settle for anything less than the vision inside her head. So it always goes tits up.

Thanks for the Wine . Will be partaking later on.

I agree about the haircuts Grin - but actually DS (AS) is better to go shoe shopping with than DD (NT) as he knows what fits and is comfy and so far doen't care as much as DD about what they look like and is easier to fit shoes for so it is often quick in and out with him. I think some of your difficulty is DD is female!
Good luck with the being alone - Although I find that alone with either child is better as they don't fight so much - but on the down side they do want more attention.

No love, I dont think there is. My nt teenager is my worst for shoe shopping, she is going to college in september, YAY!!!. No more school shoes for Dd2 ever.

Really feel for you.

LoveAndOtherIndoorSports · 07/07/2012 17:59

She decided the only shoes to feel right on her (admittedly weird shaped) feet are black (good) canvas(bad).

If school so much as think they are unsuitable I will (politely) suggest they find an alternative.

It was orrid.

at shoe shopping with Ds ( 15 asd) I stopped doing it ages ago. He has had the same shoes in different sizes for 3 years.
Before that we had a run of 4 in a previous design of shoe. He doesn't even come to try them on... I learnt my lesson many years ago. I just get the next size up when they go in the sale. Luckily now he is in men's shoes... The turnover of designs is very slow.

Oh I sympathise! DS1 is wearing shoes that are not comfortable because he won't come and try on new ones, have been ordering on line, taking back and on and on it goes. Not not he has worn shoes for the last six months but now he is starting, slowly to get out a bit so he needs them now!

DS2 is getting more and more fussy with shoes, clothes etc etc oh it is fun!

Well done on getting shoes! even if they are canvas! have a Wine :)

I raise you trying to find acceptable school shoes for a 15 yr old, with ASD, who can't tie laces, and needs a size 12 to fit over splints!!!

I've spent WEEKS I tell you.. WEEKS!!!
