Hello can anybody recommend a private Bo in the staffordshire area or just recommend one (we don't mind travelling) and possible prices to pay. Thanks :)

Sheinman opticians in northampton.

On their website they say they offer 'home therapy system' which is the vision therapy I recommend the most.

But I haven't been to them myself....

bizzey - vision therapy cures all sorts of vision problems like eye tracking problems and convergence insufficiency.

These vision problems often contribute to reading problems.

Symptoms of vision problems are:

  • Difficulties learning to read.
  • Reads slowly.
  • Skips words when reading.
  • Reads the first few letters of a word and guesses the rest.
  • Loses place when reading.
  • Can't copy off the blackboard.
  • Bad speller.

Unfortunately not all behaviour optometrists are good.

There are 3 types of things BOs recommend

  • prism glasses
  • manual vision therapy
  • computerised vision therapy.

The only one of those I can recommend is computerised vision therapy.

Thank you indigo ...(think we might have met before !) I am curious as when ds uses the computer he can see his spelling mistakes are quite quickly ..but writing he cannot see where the mistake is/are ??(he can put in pass word and know it is wrong and delete 1 dot or so ...I would have had to start again !!)

"cannot read lots of words ..but can suddenly "try to say a word out of context "...There i SAID it ...what does that mean!!

I'm not really sure whether what you describe could be a symptom of a vision problem or not.

Ask him if the words ever appear to move, get blurry, see double, his eyes get sore.

Do you ever see him rub his eyes, or close one eye so that he can see better, or tilt his head.

Things like that.....
