To my amazement I got a copy letter from camhs............to the senco.

Letter was basically telling them politely to mind their own business due to confidentiality and health information being shared. Suggested they contact me direct requesting my permission to share this information with them.

Rang camhs and was told they had an email from DS school asking for copies of reports etc and wanting to know what was going on to send off to relevant authorities..........

Said they thought that odd and thought they would copy me in as I should know and that they have totally refused to pass on any information at all. Thankfully someone had sense.

Bearing in mind DS is out of school and they have no further involvement with him. I think someone is in a pickle and has to supply some answers to someone dont you? Grin

Shock. Well seeing as he's left that school, they aren't exactly asking for that information to benefit him, are they! Glad that CAMHS were on the ball.

Little victories eh!?

It really shouldn't be a diamond moment when someone does the right thing though I can't help feeling a little gleam of delight on your behalf!

Just been to see my Mum who is back over and showed her. She has a Grin on her face just like mine!

Little victories are nice every now and then....

Nice work CAMHS Grin

I say constantly on here that schools should butt out of medical issues and concentrate on educating our kids.

You're on a roll this week Coff.

Good for them. It is so sad that we are so used to such crap that when someone acts as they are supposed to, it seems so unusual.

I disagree. My daughter's school was worried about her friend not working up to expected levels and seeming low. She was withdrawing from her learning. They suggested she see the school counsellor. The counsellor suspected that her friend was ill rather than depressed and advised her to mum to take her to GP for blood tests. She has been found to have a blood disorder.

Thank goodness the school butted in because the parents hadn't noticed the change. They were grateful for the school intervention.

That's very different from trying to obtain confidential medical information about one of your pupils.

It is good when a school recognises issues in a child and approaches parents themselves.

But in this case what they were trying to do in a nutshell was find out personal stuff that they had no business to know about my son or me for that matter. All they needed to know was what they were given and that was how his dx issues were affecting his schooling and how to help him and strategies and courses to do that. They did none of it. Refused the courses and considered them trained because they spent an hour with a SN quick course (whatever it was called) They failed miserably and he is out of there. The fact that he isnt there means they are trying to stir up something or find excuses for their actions. They failed miserably there thank goodness.

zzzzz I did say on the phone I couldnt thank her enough. Despite the psychiatrist and one other giving us a hard time (resulting in second opinion, this MH Nurse was supportive and understanding that something else was up but it wasnt her place or experience to word it or comment other than keep insisting I had the right to a second op, rushing my request letter through and corresponding with the GP quickly. She had my back then and refused to close his file for which I am grateful.

She did say that this school clearly doesnt know the rules and boundaries with regards to confidentiality and what they are and NOT entitled to know. She also had the feeling that they were complaining about her in not supplying info or supporting them further, so I told her should she receive such a complaint please let me know as I will watch her back too and I have no qualms about it.

I found notes on ds's school file about phoning CAMHS to see if mum has any anxiety, i was applying for statement at the time. Yep sounds like someone is clucking at straws.
