Hi,

Our CCN has requested the OT speaks to us on her next visit about assessing dd3 (9.5 months) for a special buggy. Her current one is unsuitable as it offers her no head or body support and she needs to remain in an upright, not slumping, position to maintain her sats.

Any ideas what make/type buggy they will suggest?

Cup. Have you looked on this site? here

Hi Cup
Would an insert like this be any use for now. It would fit in normal buggy/carseat. But I can't remember how much your 'chunky monkey' wieghs these days - so it may be too small.

DS had a tendercare one too. There is also JCM seating - www.jcmseating.co.uk

If your wheelchair service are anything like ours then they will probably have a contract with one of the companies to provide basic stuff, so it is probably worth you looking at some other options yourself. Ours didn't supply accessories either -so bear in mind that a rain cover or shopping tray may not be provided.

www.naidex.co.uk is a good place to go - we've only been to the national one, which you have missed this year, not sure what the other ones are like. But if you look at the naidex website then you can see a list of suppliers.

A lot of the specialist buggies are big - I could just get the tendercare ds had in my car boot (fiesta), but it only went in one way and there wasn't room for much else!

there's the sniggin go that I've seen recommended that has a bigger size range if you needed something a bit quicker. OT may just refer on to wheelchair services so you might want to chase them up earlier if you have a wait before you see them next, it's another of those things where there can be a lot of faffing around and waiting.

I agree with Ninja, contact wheelchair services and find out what they normally supply. Then you can at least research it and see if it's going to meet Bea's needs. Smile

Thanks for all the links. Yes the CCN mentioned the OT would refer us to wheelchair services. Do you get a choice, or do they decide which one they want you to have? Do they have contracts with certain companies?

it really does depend on your wcs. Ours always seem to offer the same ones so it does look like they have a contract (it's how all the other services work) but if you want something different/more expensive they can give you a voucher to put towards what you want. You may be able to negotiate with them if you find something that looks good. Just remember to list all the additional equipment you have to carry as that can make a difference too.
