Noise therapy

So I've been trying to get noise therapy from the OT - the cheeky effers have told me I'll have to go private as the NHS trust only cover physical OT no sensory stuff .....morons
So I've been looking at the sound therapy centre - but am slightly actually very worried that I would have to attend for 10days. But also worried as I know some children may have to repeat this therapy as the sensitivity returns.
What have you lovelies used and how have you found it?

We've done Therapeutic Listening 4 times (I think) on the NHS, this was good whilst DD2 was on the program but tended to lose the new skills once finished. She was aged 18 months to 3 yrs when we did this.

We then did AIT with the sensory clinic with no positives or negatives to report, for us it was a waste of money.

We have just finished the Listening Program with bone conduction and this has been amazing, DD2 (who was 5 last week) has come on leaps and bounds. Now we have finished the program we will be repeating the Speech and Lang cd's as this is where she has come on the most. This one I would recommend the most. It's 20 weeks, and you do the listening for 30 mins twice a day with 2 days off a week.

mumgoingcrazy, i heard about AIT but what is the listening programme and the speech and language CD's?

frizzcat, our Ot also told us there is nothing available on Nhs round here. seems to be very much a postcode lottery.

We do this program through Hemispheres where we take DD2 for retained reflexes therapy.

I think there are plenty of places where you can get the Listening program however this is the only place I have found where you get it through bone conduction, which makes the results more profound.

We did AIT a couple of years ago with good results. (it was a real slog having to go for 10 days in a row but I think you may be able to split it into two weeks with the weekends off)

Recently DD has begun to complain of noise so we are hoping to do some sort of listening programme over the summers hols on the NHS - I'm not sure what type of programme it is though -you have just reminded me I need to call them and chase it all up Smile.

I only know what we do with Hemispheres, but we have 10 cds (1 per week) to do twice a day for 30 mins and once you've reached 10 you descend down to 1 again. This is the stage we are at now.

Hemispheres now want to us to repeat 6 of the cd's which target Speech and Language and higher frequency (upper brain I think).

All the listening therapies have a similar principles, but this particular one has worked for us.

I've heard Tomatis and Johanson are good too. We've done sensory therapies and various listening therapies since DD2 was 13 months and we have now (at the age of 5) found something that really works for us. It's taken a while,
