Introduce Myself

Ive jumped in and posted in a few threads, then realised ive not introduced myself.

Im Hayley, i have a daughter who is 6 and has asd. The main problem that came up was her speech then to find out she just didnt understand anything, or even respond to her name.
She was diagnosed at 3 1/2 which was the age she started to say her first words, she has a huge vocab now but putting the words together in a sentence she finds difficult, but she reads well above her age, she also has sensory problems, noise and touch mostly.

Then we have my son he is 3, delayed speech (altho easier to understand than my daughter) he does have understanding, he is very clumsy, hyper, mixes up words easily like calling me dad, its seems to take him ages to learn things, he cant wait for anything, he loves people and will hug/hold hands with strangers, very touchy feely child.
He was tested for asd while he does score they want to do it again in 9 months, i dont think he has asd, hes not had a normal upbringing as his sister doesnt like him at all (having one child who like to be all over you and one who wants to be left alone, not a good mix) so she attacks him all the time, but i do feel like there could be somthing there, he will deffo need extra help in school which he has had his IEP so luckly at nursery he is getting help, im hopeing he will just catch up and alot could be infulenced by his sister. But who knows.

Thats my essay, looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi there 8Bubbles8, I'm kinda new here aswell :)

Everyone here seems very friendly and helpful and there is alot of info to be found. My DS is 6 and we are still plodding along slowly to a diagnosis, only recently got the peadiatrician to refer him to be assesed for Austism as she seems very stuck on that he makes eye contact. Also got a statement in the works, hate that it takes so long as chldrens futures (aswell as my sanity lol) literally hang in the balance while you wait :(

Anyhoo, welcome and enjoy your time here Grin

Hi 8Bubbles8 Smile I'm sure you will get lots of good advice and support here. I was so glad to find support on here.
My Ds is 11 yrs newly dx with ASD we had private and NHS dx and we have been working with his secondary school ed psyc and SALT to get him the extra support he needs.
He has had very high levels of anxiety since starting secondary which he needed meds for but with this extra support he seems to be coping a bit better now. So glad we went for dx even though it's been difficult as he wouldn't get any support without it.
We have one other NT dc. They don't get on with each other either as they are complete opposites!

Hello and welcome. I've got 3 DSs, DS2 has ASD, is now 12 and in MS secondary with a statement. I've been here 18 months or so and find it really friendly. Smile

Hello, i think i have your daughter twin Grin, i have 2 dd's, dd2 has ASD, was diagnosed at 3, her main problems are speach (was non-verbal until 3.5) and is sensitive to sound, she's now 6 and like your dd she has a huge vocab but struggles to string words together to make convosation, she was a early reader and loves maths (we suspect she has hyperlexia). I also have dd1 who is 8 and has Aspergers syndrom, unlike her sister dd1 can tak for england but does suffer with anxiety which makes life a bit tough.

Hi and welcome aboard :)

I have 3 DC. 2 NT and DS who was dx with Aspergers plus co morbids. He loves maths but unfortunately has SpLD in reading and writing which is a shame as he loves finding out about the world and all in it :)

Good morning Smile.

I have 2 DC. DS is 11 and has Aspergers and DD is 9 and is dyslexic.
Both of them can talk for England and our house is definately not a quiet place when they are home. Grin

Thanks everyone,
Sometimes i do want to fast forward everything just so i can see what the kids will be like when they are older, Melissa has improved so much but i do wonder if shes reached her peak. Trying to teach her who, what, why, when....tough one shes really stuck.
And with Bradley i have no idea where he is going. Knowing what is wrong with Mel gives me closure and we can move on, but im so unsure about Bradley
