DLA mobility lease & tax disc question

We have just received my DS's renewal for his dla and have been awarded high rate mobility but its only for the next 2 years.
Ive been looking into getting a car with it but ive noticed that these are leased over 3 years, so does anyone know how that would work in my situation?
I didnt want to look into it sooner tbh as i wasnt sure if we would get mobility and didnt want to get my hopes up.

Also our tax is due for renewal on our current car, would it be easier to pay out of our money (which we can get partly refunded when we get new car) and use the free tax when we get the car OR is it easy to change over if we use the free tax now and then get a new car? sorry if its a stupid question still buzzing a bit cause we actually got mobility.

Hi you need to have at least one year left of your award to get a car - so you'll be fine - look on the website for Motorbility and you will get all the answers you need. xx

What Nev said re Motability as I'm not sure - we have always had at least 3 yrs granted on ours.
Re tax disc. You should have had a car tax exemption form with your HRM notice. You use that in order to change the class of your current vehicle to 'Disabled - exempt. You will then be issued with a tax disc free of charge. I think you have to do it through your nearest DVLA office though - don't thinl you can do it at the post office. Thats how it used to be anyway - its a long time since I've done it so it may have changed.
