3 LEA panels in 2 weeks - WWYD next?

The outcome of the panel yesterday (supposed to be statement or NIL decision) was that they needed DS to be assessed by their own LEA EP. The issue is complicated by the fact that we live in one county but DS attends school in another (we live on the border). DS has been seen by 2 EPs from the neighbouring county and 1 private EP (2 in the last year).

EP phoned me yesterday afternoon. Assessment will be on 4th July, followed by a meeting with parents and the case will go back to panel again on 4th August. He is not sure whether he will just observe in the classroom or repeat cognitive assessments. Trouble is that DS has no diagnosis yet (awaiting assessment) and hides behaviour at school - has nothing left for academic work and so despite above average assessed ability he has therefore made no progress between KS1 and KS2. Rate of progress does not lend itself to direct observation and it is very difficult to see what is hidden. Worried that this will be another opportunity to say 'no problem' and issue NIL.

He kept asking did I mind - I thought I had no choice - it was the LEA decision to go straight to panel without collecting more evidence and so I can't think of how I could object?? They can waive the statutory timetable when they want to - 6 weeks to say yes or no to assessment is not necessary. Angry

Also this is way to late for transition to secondary in Sept.
