Can anyone point me to a clear and easy definition of ADHD?
DS (Aspie) is being bullied by a boy who DS says has ADHD. They go to a youth organisation.
I have already provided the leader with a simple definition of AS, but I want to be able to take something about ADHD and, being a reasonable sort, I want to understand more about how the problems between DS and the other boy have arisen.
The NAS has a piece but it is really about co-morbidity.

In brief: Hyperactivity, Impulsivity, Inattention

One theory is that the brain under-responds to normal levels of input, and so regular stuff seems boring. The quickest way to get it to feel 'right' is to seek out (or create) excitement. Another way to hype up an under-active brain is with chemicals, prescribed or otherwise obtained.

To complicate matters though, most ADHD dc are socially and emotionally immature with significant pragmatic language difficulties.

Thanks mariam. Sounds very much like the boy concerned, especially seeking out excitement.
