Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Folk are always trying to label "our" kids...

So I reckon we need a few labels for them!

I shall start with

HDAD Hyperactivity Deficit Attention Disorder. Characterised by a distinct lack of mischief, children with HDAD show a distinct tendency to sit down and STFU. Often comorbid with my next suggestion.

Bonum Duo Calceamente is characterised by a constant desire for adult approval. Diagnosis is according to a Triad of Impairment, with marks out of 10 for: Timely completion of school work, including asking for extra when finished; Voluntary completion of adult tasks such as blackboard cleaning, pencil sharpening and tidying of toys; lack of ability to maintain cheek and backchat (in severe cases, this developmental stage will be completely absent)

Anyone care to add to my list?

OCD - obsessively compulsively dissmissive - you tell them something that is a huge concern and you get 'oh that's nothing I/I know/I read [usually in the DM/I'm sure/I think I once heard someone/something[!] who was like/had that and they were fine/a bit quirky/eccentric/ really bright - doesn't Richard Branson have that...........

Har har Grin

Any outbreaks of Afflicted Parent Avoidance Disorder? It seems endemic in my son's school and I am concerned at the lack of treatment options?
Characterised by the isolation of the parents of a child with SN e.g in the playground, at school collection times, lack of playdates, etc. Compounded by poor eye contact (!) and a diminuition in vocal output on proximity to the source?

LEA Spongiform Encephalitis Loss of higher brain function due to repeated dealings with council morons. Particularly endemic amongst previously intelligent and motivated students who chose Social Work as a career.

Verity, why should your dd be the only one with a pointless string of letters to define her personality? This is a thread for sharing that love with the rest of society Wink

Porridgelover So true, my eldest is NT and I never had problem making friends in the playground when I just had her to pick up. Has been quite different with my boysSad.
