question for a friend of mine

I have a friend who has a disability, she is unable to walk at all and has to use a wheelchair.

The Council moved her to a bungalow in January, which was not adapted for wheelchair use. They have made a few changes, but she is still not able to use her kitchen at all.

They first installed a kitchen at the wrong height. They then adjusted the kitchen, still the wrong height. They have agreed to adjust it again and given her a date for a months time.

Is there anything she can do to ensure that it is done properly this time?

Are there time limits for this kind of thing?

I don't know, claw, but the parents with disabilities board may have more experience?

Has she got an OT from SS? They should be able to advise all LA on changes in houses. Call local SS, she should have one allocated to her ASAP.

Thanks Ellen, i posted here as this seems to get the most traffic, but i could repost there.

Lisa, she has an OT, that is how she got the bungalow, she was previously living in a house with bathroom and bedroom upstairs. She was having to drag herself upstairs when she needed the loo etc.

I think she already has a SW too, they moved her to bungalow as a matter of urgency before all the changes had been made and told her they would make alterations.

They have put in ramps on the outside of her bungalow, but none leading into the garden. She cannot open any of her windows as the handles are too high and still cannot use her kitchen.

Seems they have agreed to do all these things, but they are just taking forever to do them.
